Best and easiest solutions: *recommended*

Tunebite runs in the background on your Windows PC. When you play back a piece of music, Tunebite automatically re-records the song. According to the author of the software this is legal and foolproof. Leverages High Speed Digital Dubbing for turbo-speed recording and allows you to listen to other music while it's doing its job.

If for some reason Tunebite fails, then there are some other options that are reported to work. One of them is an application similar to Tunebite, called MuveAudio, which is also able to remove the DRM from WMA files.

MuvAudio (click for download) is a .NET software application (Windows XP) for recording/converting the audio of most video/audio items that are playable by Windows Media Player. Including audio files protected with a DRM protection like the ones from Napster, MusicMatch and E-music.

Reported to work for some

* Backup music files from Napster/other companies that allow CD burning:

Download the songs from Napster
Burn the songs to a CD e.g. using Nero
Rip the CD to MP3 e.g using Easy CDDA Creator
Convert to any format you like e.g. using again Easy CDDA Creator

* Another method using Virtuosa JukeBox (Does not seem to work anymore)

Download songs.
Download Virtuosa.
Set Virtuosa WMA-->MP3 to128 Kbps, 44.1 kHz MP3 encoding.
Depending on your system you can encode 50-100 songs at a time.

This is lightyears ahead of the realtime/streaming recording to wav/mp3, and the output quality will be substantially better. If you try and encode at 192, it will not work. 160 occasionally works, but 128 is a LOCK.

I was able to crack Protected WMA programs with Audacity (I use the Audacity Portable version, available here - http://portableapps.com/apps/music_v...acity_portable)

I use version 1.2.6

It opens the file, and then i export to mp3. The resulting file has no protection. Nero, Itunes, and other programs all gave me "this file is protected" crap, but Audacity didn't. Hope it helps

I read through this post, I think fully maybe not, but here is my problem. I have been using napster for a very long time. I have in this time went through 4 computers and acquired about 700 bucks worth of music. Now to my problem. Recently napster determined that I have exceeded my limit as far as transferring my music, though my main desktop is still valid with all the music and I cant play anything. I have gone through support now about 17 times and they pretty much are all idiots reading off of a script. I want to rip and dump all the protected file crap but everywhere that I have read and tried (like making the file into a .iso), seem to only be workable if I can play the file... Is there ANY possible way of ripping the song, or converting to MP3 without the ability to play? I don't mind buying the software, I just don't want to buy and buy if not the common things ( tune bite...etc...) doesn't even work. Any advise or direction would help...
