Guess I was mistaken. I thought since the MuvAudio interface has video on the Windows Media Players that it did a screen capture for video.

Also I misread this line from MuvAudio.com: MuvAudio© is a .NET© software application for recording/converting the audio of most video/audio items that are playable by Windows Media Player©

[2.1.1.3]
1. Added support for iTunes audio books (files with .m4b extension).
2. Relaxed encoding parameters for MP3 and OGG to reduce the size of converted audio books.
3. Added righ-click menues for the "songs to recorded" and "recorded songs" lists.
4. Removed the "Max track length" limitation.
5. BugFix: improved soundcard accessing mechansim for WMP.
6. BugFix: correlate the track max allowed elapsed time with the high-speed dubbing acceleration in use.
7. BugFix: no more "The system cannot find the path specified..." error when the artist or album contains leading/trailing white space characters.

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

I have the latest Tunebite installed (2.1.1.3) and WMP 10.
I have no problem batch converting protected WMA to OGG or MP3.
When I try to batch convert protected WMA to unprotected WMA, WMP crashes after recording one tune.
If I hit the "GO" button on tunebite, it will continue and re-start WMP and record the next tune. This also happened with the previous version of tunebite.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
I am running Windoze XP Pro.
I don't know where the problem lies as WMP behaves itself when going to OGG or MP3.
If I want to convert an album, I have to do each tune separately.
Do you think MS has downloaded some sort of patch without permission?

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

Hello everyone!
I need assistnce in coping NAPSTER music files that have been DOWNLOADED to my hard-drive, and then.. to copy these music files to a CD. This CD needs to be able to play in most CD players...
I was able to kinda accomplish this through nero. I was only able to copy via to a WMA file...?, which, the new CD was only playable on my computer.
Does anyone have..., or does anyone know..., any software that I can use to copy NAPSTER downloaded music to a CD that can be listen to in my car or typical cd palyer??

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

Thomass3,

You should be able to do this from within Napster's software for the music you have purchased.

From Napster's FAQ:

9. What can I do with music I buy on Napster?
The songs and albums you buy are yours to keep forever. You can burn an individual song as many times as you like and the same songlist up to 7 times. You can copy your music to 3 computers, and transfer it to a compatible MP3 player an unlimited number of times.

If you are talking about music you download, but not purchased, see this thread, in particular messages 1 - 1804. (he he) You should be able to do what you want by purchasing Tunebite and Nero.

I was hoping one of the more experienced members would reply to this but here is my $.02.
The Napster file is a WMA protected file. You must convert it to an unprotected WMA file which can be done legally with tunebite or muvaudio. (If you can't play it on your PC, then you don't have a current license.)
You can use Nero which will convert the unprotected WMA files and burn them as cda files on a disc. This is the format used for store-bought audio cds.
You must specify in Nero that you want to burn an Audio CD, otherwise, you are only going to burn a CD with WMA files which sounds like what your problem is.
One can also use WMP to burn audio (cda) files to disc as well.
itunes will do it also, but it wants you to convert to AAC first and then burn your Audio CD from the AAC files.
Stick with Nero or WMP.
If you are copying a complete album, make sure the files are burnt in track order so it will be recognized by (Freedb.org) and the various disk labeling programs. This way the name of the track playing will be shown.

I finally upgraded Tunebite . . . I guess we'll see how the faster recording works out.

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

Has anyone used Tunebite for recording streaming radio? And what is your opinion of it? Thanks

Also, a side note.... I found a excellent tutorial on how the whole DRM scheme works.

So at the risk of again offending those who belive my posts are way too long. And those who seemed more concerned about my typing skills than actual information.

I will post the link here... after all, IIRC the title of the thread IS about How to burn or CRACK WMA files... right....?

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

I've been using Tunebite 2.1.0.2 for a week or so with no problem with my Yahoo music subscription. Now, WMP 10 started complaining about protected content and I can't convert the DLed files anymore. I've read most of the pages in thread and didn't see my problem.

Anyone know how to fix this? Here's the error I'm getting....

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying to play the DLed file in WMP 10 without Tunebite running results in WMP trying to aquire a license with a IE page not found result.

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

Try this, get out of all the programs , shut everything down, and reboot the computer and retry.

See if the song or songs will play streaming in Napster. I had a almost the same problem, a song would not play in WMP and said the same thing, I just shut everything down and restarted it and everything worked fine.

Also be aware that songs that were available for streaming download might be available on day and the next day , the song is no available due to a sudden change in licensing.

Such was the case with "Breaking the girl" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It was pulled off as streamable and no longer available in any form.

Your other possible options are reinstall WMP or Tunebite or both or reinstall the Yahoo interface.

Could be you had to sign in again to yahoo for a license update and that could mean your downloaded wma/drm-ed tunes from yahoo last week should now all work.... unless they pulled a license for a song or two.... which online download services are known to do....

I don't know, I have a lot DLed from last week and I can't use Tunebite on any of them. I've signed out and in again but didn't help. There must be something I'm missing on what happened or how to fix it but I can't think what it might be. No problem with any I DLed today.

It must have something to do with my new PC. I'll have to try find something on what Yahoo says about that.

EDIT: Hmmmm. Found out if I play any of the DLed songs from last week in Yahoo Music Engine for just a second they will then play on WMP and I can use Tunebite on them. Now I just need to figure out how to do it to all them

This is the problem I am having in my post #1804 this thread.
MUVaudio works in batch mode and tunebites one song at a time only.
I am using Virgin Digital exclusively.

Found this on Yahoo's help site. Looks like since I built this PC after I DLed my songs last week and transferred them to this PC that they have a different ID.
Now, if I could just figure out how to use these songs besides opening them one at a tiime in the Yahoo Music Engine.

Yahoo! Music Unlimited subscription tracks are tied to a single machine when it comes to trasferring to a portable device. That means the system assigns a license to one computer for transfer. So, if you transfer some tracks from your computer at work, then you transfer more tracks from your laptop at home, you may find the first set of tracks transferred no longer plays on the portable device.

To avoid this overwriting of licenses, designate a single computer as your point of transfer, then be sure to manage your portable device from that designated machine.

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

im sure my question was probably answered somewhere here but im afraid it might be too good to be true... so with the latest tunebite, nero and WMP10, one can download (yes download, i have a paid subscription to napster) the newest WMA(10?) files and then convert them (to mp3) using tunebite? so it IS possible to take complete posession and control of a WMA file downloaded off of napster?

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

To anyone interested. I came to this forum a few days ago trying to convert my 100 encrypted WMA's to MP3's I have found the easiest software solution i think. First go to this link:

http://www.tekdealers.com/?pg=produ...4&productID=330

and purchase Nero Ultra 6 for $8. This will give you all the nessasary tools. Download and install all the apps in Nero Ultra6 (altho you will only use 3 interfaces).

Start Nero StartSmart, go to the Audio tab and select make an Audio CD. This starts NeroExpress. Click "add" and proceed to select all the encrypted WMA till you fill up one cd. Click on the "next" button and in the next window select the "current recorder" to be an Image Recorder. Proceed to burn the cd, the resulting .nrg file should be created in the folder where you added the WMA's from. Close Nero Express.

Next go back to nero StartSmart and expand the "application" tab and select NeroImgae drive. You will have to setup NeroImage Drive the very first time since it configures your system to add a virtual CD drive. From Nero ImageDrive enable the first drive then select and mount the .nrg file you created in the previous step. Close Nero ImageDrive.

Start Nero StartSmart again and goto the audio tools and select "Convert Audio CD's to Audio Files". When Nero Startsup choose the IMAGEDRIVE that has your .nrg mounted now. If you have registered Nero You can use the PowerPack Lame MP3 Encoder, if not you can download the Lame mp3 plugin for nero from

http://www.bitburners.com/Software/..._MP3_v1.0.0.32/

The plugin will go into the plugins directory for Nero

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins

You should see all the tracks listed ready to be ripped, select the output format, Lame mp3 or otherwise, choose the proper encoding setting and specify the output path and file name creation format. Click Go wait for a few moments and you are Done!

Encrypted WMA's are now MP3, with their names intact, but the wma tag info is not transfered. But its sweet none the less.

I feel good about sticking it to MS!!! Now if Ahead would just automate this entire procedure!

Enjoy.

I had that problem. What I did was go to Napster, imported the tracks I was having that problem with. Then open up Windows Media Player played just enough of each track til it showed license aquired. I did each track individually, then when I finished the album, I set Tunebite to high speed dub.

not possible im afraid. The purpose of this thread is to find a way of converting protected wma's into unprotected files without using a cd burner (as napster subscibtions, virgin digital subscibtions, etc, do not allow you to burn the music to a cd)

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

I think the error you have might have to do with the high speed dub... try turning off the virtual dub thing and recording the songs... if it works, then turn it back on and try it then... tell me if this fixes it...

I use Replay Music to grab streaming audio . . . seems to work just fine.

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

Okay, I just downloaded the latest version of tunebite. I'm able to get all of the copyrighted wma to mp3 format, however; a LOT of my mp3's are much longer than the original tracks. Funny thing is, the file size is the exact same between the mp3 and the wma. It's just weird. This was done with high speed digital dubbing at 4x, 1x, and even just analog. Every time it got me the same results. Does anybody know what's happening?

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

When you say that they are longer then the original files, you are looking at the length shown in your playlist or did u actually timed them ?
My guess is that it's the first case, and you are seeing this difference because you are converting with VBR. There is actually no difference in length, just time them.
Btw. what player are you using ?
