After Napster Trial???

What happens to the files on your computer if you cancel the trial. Can they still be "converted"? I would think so, but not sure if you have to let Napster "pull" the licenses from your computer.

If they're still there, why not download - download - download, then convert later?

To answer your question though, somebody posted a link to a crack for Virtuosa a few pages back. Personally I think the player is hideous and I would not use it for anything besides doing conversion.

And thanks for the opinion

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

When I first downloaded Virt from tucows, it took about 20 seconds per song with my first batch of songs. Now, after having gone through the process of downloading and redownloading in order to switch around the .vpl files so I could get my track #s to transfer, it takes well over a minute per song, encoding at a speed of 4x. Can any of you guys think of a reason why I would have such a dropoff in production?

I'm not looking to find out if they're protected. I want to be sure they're mp3's not wma's. Thanks for the help, but read a little more carefully.

Virtuosa Rocks!

I'm getting ~14X speeds with this program. But...the patch (the one listed earlier) doesn't work for me. Any ideas?

Using a 1.7 Centrino (equivalent to 2.4 + Pentium) notebook I just converted 258 tracks at ~14X. Using a Pentium 1.8 desktop I just converted 204 tracks at ~8X.

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

Has anyone tried using the old MsWMedia VPL files with a NEWER version of Virtuosa? Will it work like that? The only registered copy of the program I can find doesn't allow DRM transcoding.

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

Hi everyone. I tried using the crack a few pages back but I get an error. I am currently using the version of virtuosa that allows me to successfully convert wma files downloaded from napster. The error I get is a checksum error. Anyone else getting that error or know a workaround? Thanks.

Same problem here. Has anyone done an uninstall and reinstall to see if the expiration date changes OK?

I tried doing that. It doesn't work. I'm not sure why but it doesn't. In fact, if you try that and include the new MsWMEnc.vpl file, you can no longer use virtuosa to convert the protected wma files; however, if you only paste the new MsWMDec.vpl file, virtuosa still works. Maybe I did something wrong but I think I'm quite capable of copying and pasting so there must be something else to this. If anyone knows of a solution, please let us know.

Reinstalling Virtuoso

Anyone done this successfully yet? I just tried it, did regedit, removing funvibes from local machine and user. After restart I had to enter my user info (did it before without regedit - it knew who I was) and thought I was home safe. Started Virtuosa and got the same expire date as before. Something's hidden on the system, maybe in user settings?

Need a real computer geek (the good kind) for this one!

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

Ok as far as the checksum errror, ur screwed. It is a way of comparing two files and telling it they are byte for byte the same. If you dowloaded your copy off downloads.com, it appears they have changed the .exe to stop the crack from working.

Now as far as a uninstall and reinstall. Your out of luck again. All time bombed proggies deposit a hidden entry into ur registry that does not get removed upon uninstalling the proggie. Sooooo unless ur running a uninstall proggie to monitor installations u will never be able to find the entry and remove it..

Buttttttt here is the good new... lmao

Roll ur puter clock back to a date within the 30 day trial period and start the proggie up. Most only check the date upon starting up so u should be able to set ur clock to the true date after that so it dont mess up ur dates on any files that u convert if that matters to u...

Sorry for the semi bad news guys.. Give it some time though and someone will recrack it...

What about using System Restore in XP to roll back before the install?

Hmmm, seems like the simple solution would be to simply replace the exe file we have with the previous one. Does anyone know where one might be able to come up with previous exe ??? It's only about 4-5 MB so... not that difficult to email (hint hint).

Re: How to burn or crack protected WMA files?

So are you guys saying that your trial version of Virtuosa has expired or that somehow the old version was updated without your knowledge (some type ofautomatic update)?

For some reason my computer can no longer play my napster songs (unconverted) because of licensing issues. I'm still a member of Napster so I don't know what's going on. Virtuosa won't work until I can play the songs. Just e-mailed Napster.
