Help: how to make a mp3 autorun CD

Like a good son I am making CD's for my family with Christmas music (mp3). I don't know what players they use (winamp, MMJB..) so I want to make an CD with an autorun file that will just run the m3u playlist and use whatever is their default player.

I have a CD with the mp3's, a .m3u playlist and an autorun.inf file.
The autorun.inf file has:

Quote:
[autorun]
OPEN=Playlist.m3u
However, when I insert the CD it doensn't automatically try to run the playlist. However, if I browse the CD and double click on the playlist.m3u file it fires up winamp with the songs in playlist.

I'm guessing that you can't use something that is a non .exe with the autorun file. If its true that I can only use .exe with autorun, could I have the autorun load a batch file and have the batch file load up the playlist? I don't know how to write a batch file so if that will work maybe someone can clue me in.

thanks,

BC

yep, got the batch file thing to work. In case anyone else wants to do this:

1. Put your m3u playlist in the root folder of your CD.
2. make a file called "autostart.inf". Use this text in the file:

[autorun]
OPEN=Playlist.bat

3. Make your bat file. Call it "Playlist.bat". Use this text in the batch file:

@echo off
start playlist.m3u
exit

4. Put the bat, inf and m3u files in the root folder of the CD.

or simpler, add

[autorun]
OPEN=start \Playlist.m3u

to Autorun.inf.

If m3u files are associated with Winamp, they'll start playing.

Hmm.. that didn't work for me (m3u is associated with winamp on my machine too). Inserted the CD and nothing happened.

Do you have autorun enabled?

This might be fun to add too:

A simple Google Search (again, I can really recommend it):
