Audio Discuss, Fix offsets through firmware? at International Chat: Software related forum; Recently I've become interested in CD offsets......just wondering, would it not be possible for manufacterers to fix this through firmware...ie tell the drive to always read 12 frames ahead of which sector is requested? Then we wouldn't need to deal with offsets in software....

Junior's Bar where the band is playing, just for me.
They play real loud, they move the crowd,
It's a poor boy's symphony.
Junior's Bar, until they kill the neon lights,
I hope I don't go home alone tonight.

Yes, that's right.

The first step has been made by Plextor, that has aknowledged the reference offset chosen by Andre Wiethoff when he made EAC, and now provides automatic offset correction for their drives in Plextools.
