| Fix offsets through firmware? Recently I've become interested in CD offsets......just wondering, would it not be possible for manufacterers to fix this through firmware...ie tell the drive to always read 12 frames ahead of which sector is requested? Then we wouldn't need to deal with offsets in software....

| Yes, that's right. The first step has been made by Plextor, that has aknowledged the reference offset chosen by Andre Wiethoff when he made EAC, and now provides automatic offset correction for their drives in Plextools.
