Plextor is normally excellent for such advanced features/tasks.

nope. as i know, plextors can't do that all - only can overread lead-in/lead-out but can not overwrite into lead-in/lead-out.
Is there a drive which can do this all?

as someone report at

http://www.ping.be/satcp/eacoffsets01.htm#

TEAC CDR56S-600 is the one and only reported writer can overwrite into lead-in/lead-out... but is that true?! Is really the only one?!

I would not rely on one person claiming he has the only writer in the world which can write into lead-in/lead-out... How did he find out? Eac cannot cope with writing into lead-in/lead-out (I think...), have never seen the option in other programs...
