Audio Discuss, DTS Audio & DVDA to DVD? at International Chat: Software related forum; I want to convert my 5.1 DVDAs and 5.1 DTS Audio CDs (which play in my car) for use in my DVD surround sound system. (It doesn't support these formats). I want to use the DTS audio, I hear it is "less lossy" than AC3(?).

DTS Audio & DVDA to DVD?

I want to convert my 5.1 DVDAs and 5.1 DTS Audio CDs (which play in my car) for use in my DVD surround sound system. (It doesn't support these formats).

I want to use the DTS audio, I hear it is "less lossy" than AC3(?). I'm able to use DVD Shrink to create a DVD from a DVDA by unchecking the AC3 audio and creating the image. Seems to work.

How can I take 5.1 DTS audio and make a standard DVD (not a DVDA) out of it? Most FAQs and utilities have to do with demuxing/ripping DTS off a DVD, or upmixing stereo to 5.1. I want to take DTS files off a CD and create a DVD from them. Looked at Besweet and some other tools but I guess I'm missing something obvious. I already have the DTS (wav) files ready to go. I just need to know how to add the audio to a DVD compilation. I have no video to go with it, but I assume it's possible to create VOB files with the audio and no video, or just a still graphic.

Re: DTS Audio & DVDA to DVD?

A "standard DVD" always has video on it, so you cannot create a "standard DVD"!

You can create a fake DVD with fake tiny video part and the rest is audio.

Re: DTS Audio & DVDA to DVD?

Thanks for the reply. I figured as much, so I created an avi with just a graphic in it, then made the 5.1 wav file the "soundtrack" and burned it to a DVD. Got the graphic playing on the screen but the sound didn't play. The problem may be MS Moviemaker, (don't laugh), which maybe messed up the DTS audio.

What I'd really like to do is create a DVD with a menu of audio tracks on the disc, that will play from the first track by default if you hit play. I have Nero Ultra Edition but couldn't figure out how to do it.

Try this: http://www.audio-dvd-creator.com/

Convert the DTS to AC3 before.

Re: DTS Audio & DVDA to DVD?

Thanks, I'll try it. Hopefully the trial version will allow me to create a DVD to try it.

I got a rather long procedure to decode the DTS files into wave files and then to AC3 off the Doom9 forum. Do you know of an easier method of doing this?

Re: DTS Audio & DVDA to DVD?

Thanks for the reply. I was following the guide at http://dtsguide.de.vu/ but only got so far: I split the DTS file to 6 mono wav files, then merged then into an AC3 file, but was unable to play it. (I have the latest k-lite codec pack installed.) Frustrating.

I'll have to try again. Once I have a working AC3 file I still have to figure out how to get it on a DVD with no video. I'm sure there are tools on Doom9 that can do this, but I'd be willing to buy a commercial package like audio DVD creator if it's a long tedious process.

What I'd really like to do is get the AC3 audio AND the resampled 48kHz DTS files on the DVD, so I can play the DTS files, which are supposed to sound better.

I'll keep working at it.

Re: DTS Audio & DVDA to DVD?

Without creating video with it or putting both streams onto a Data-DVD, how should it work??
