Audio Discuss, digital output + protected cds at International Chat: Software related forum; is the cd still protected when it comes out from the digital output of a standalone player? can i save this signal safely on my pc (obviously with an opt in...)? thnx

no ..it isn't protected anymore when you do it like that

and you will have some quality loss depending on the hardware you use

good news/bad news, uh? well, i have already done an analogic rip and, as far as i could hear, the sound wasn't so bad, as i'm not a purist...
anyway i was asking because i read somewhere that many mp3/MD devices gave errors connecting the machines this way...
oh well, go and buy a new soundcard

if you are not an audio freak..it will be ok i guess

but if you have expensive equipment you always go for the best sound...
