All the tracks have cd text and i am sur i ticked the cd text box.

Since the 48125w and 4804te can write cd text i am sure the can also read it ?!? nero info tool says only the liteon can read cd text!

you need programms/hardware that can read cd text...my sony standalone cd player for example.
but there are some software audio players that can do the same

i do not know if the ms media player reads cd text or that it gets its info from cddb

The Windows Media Player 8.0 is a real Swiss army knife! It also supports CD-Audio playback. Inserting an Audio CD in your computer will automatically launch the Windows Media Player and the CD will be played. If the CD supports the CD-Text norm, the names of each track will be shown in the ‘now playing’ view. Your CD isn’t CD-Text ready? No problem the Windows Media Player 8 will automatically interrogate the Internet CD database to retrieve tracks’ names.
you were right............

(all writers with sub/96 can read/write cd-text)

did you write the cd in dao????

Just checked winamp 3 doesnt report text on the cd, but i suspect the cd wasnt burnt in DAO - whats the nero default setting; TAO?

I have just made an image of a complaition and when mounted it doesn't show any cd txt for the tracks- so it must be a problem with nero or windows media player

I have tried using feurio but i found it too complicated

i played it from my cdrws (48125w OC + 4804te) and my unbranded cdrom 50x.

Nero info tool says my 2 virtual drives and 48125w are the only cd drives i have that can read cd txt.

Unfortunelly this is not always true ...
could try to create an image an mount it with daemon tools and then play it and check if it is seen as a cd text .

Well, you can certify if the cd was correctly burned with cd-text by opening feurio's cd-manager and inserting the cd. The name of the tracks should appear on the leftside window.

The same happens with exact audio copy. Insert the cd and the name of the tracks should appear.

If not, then the device you're using is probably not capable of reading cd-text (even if it's able to write it).

cheers

Maybe the drive is not fully supported in Feurio, so you would have to set configuration to read CD-Text (Program Parameters -> Special Parameters).

Other players that read CD-Text are Hacp and Plextor and Teac software players.

It seems so at first, but once you have made a couple of discs is faster than anything.
And it has the best CD-Text support.

You only have to drag and drop the songs on the project (right window) in the CD-Manager (if the names of the songs are there they will be written) . Press "Burn" and Feurio CD-Writer is opened. And choose between "Write" or "Test".
(You won't have to check DAO or TAO mode or 0 seconds pause anymore).
Maybe the manual can help you better: http://www.feurio.com/English/Downlo...ermanual.shtml

Probably it's a bug in Nero.

Use the Lite-on that the Nero Info Tool says is CD Text capable to read the audio source.

In New Compilation / Audio CD be sure to check the "Write CD Text on CD" box.

In CDA Options / General Settings, choose "Tempfile strategy"

In Burn, select the Write Method "Disk-at-Once".

If you are copying a commercial CD release, use the FreeDB internet database to download title, track, and artist information.

If you are compiling miscellaneous tracks, left click on each track and hit Properties and enter the CD Text information for Title and Artist.

The information will be recorded to the hard disc first, then may be burned to a CDR. Use the Lite-on for both operations. Nero can't burn CD Text on-the-fly.

A CD Text capable player like Windows Media Player 8 must be used to play the disks. Most computer CD players will not read CD Text. You can download a good freeware one at Digital CD Player for Windows. This player will also play digitally, i.e., no audio connector is necessary from the drive to the sound card.

Thanks for the info Inertia.
I'll try the freeware player out.

Btw, are you sure that you have to save to the hard drive first. I haven't used nero for cd-text writing for a while but I don't recall having to create an iso with image recorder before burning the cd (or do you mean something else where you speak of recording the info to hard disc?)

philamber,

Nero isn't creating an image file. It's just recording the tracks to the hard drive first so that it can burn in disk at once. DAO is required for CD Text. If audio is written on the fly in Nero, the writing mode is TAO.

If you open Nero and go to Audio CD | CDA Options and click on Info, it will explain (awkwardly) the uses and requirements of the different audio recording modes.

Nero and most other burning programs require audio tracks to be written to the hard disk before burning in DAO. Easy CD Creator will allow CD Text DAO burning on the fly, which makes it much faster for this operation.

Thanks Inertia. That makes sense.

Still I don't think I'll allow cremator onto my system just for a little extra speed with cd-text writing.

Of course Feurio allows DAO mode on the fly. (In fact Feurio only burns in DAO mode because TAO is not good for audio).

I can't believe that Nero needs the tracks on the hard disk to write in DAO...
