CD Player Cleaning

I have a cd player (Sony deck CD/MD combo, unsure of model number) that I have had for over 6 years and I am sure it can use a good cleaning. Does anyone have any tips of how to do this?

Should I just buy a cleaning disc and run it through my machine?

Should I open up the machine and clean it internally?

Any help is much appreciated...

Re: CD Player Cleaning

Hi
As rolling56 suggests really.
Dry disc cleaners rarely do anything.
The wet variety can have debris stick to the brushes & cause more greif than you had in the 1st place.
Compressed air is another option, but this too can give problems as much it cures.
