| Can't burn CD-Text w Roxio or Nero Help! I have tried writing CD-Text onto CDs with both Nero (5 something) and Roxio (5 with latest patch from Roxio website). CDs finish without errors, but my CD changer (Sony CDP-450) won't read the CD-Text. Is there a secret to this? Is there something wrong with the Burner? CD changer? I use Windows Professional 2000 and have tried 2 different 52/24/52 burners on 2 different PCs. |

| What are you using to read the text? Your player MUST be capable of reading CD-Text. Most are not. On the PC, the media player MUST be capable of reading CD-Text. Windows Media Player and quite a few other media players including Winamp 2 cannot read CD-Text.

| What burner are you using? Do other programs burn correctly? Have you tried Feurio!? It's the best software to burn CD-Text. This is the list of supported drives: http://www.feurio.com/English/cd_writer.shtml If it claims that your drive supports CD-Text, it'll probably work. Once burned, insert the CD in the burner and press the "CD-Text" button at the right of the CD-ROM selection in the Feurio CD-Manager in order to see if the CD contains CD-Text info. |

| wow! "generic" drives !! According to this: http://www.goldenhawk.com/devices.htm the 2nd drive might be an AOpen or Buslink rebadged Ricoh 52x, but if Feurio doesn't recognise it, then my post is useless (if it were the AOpen you would need the latest driver update to detect it correctly and burn CD-Text). This is one of the reasons why I don't like rebadged drives. In this case, I would try CDRWin and burnatonce if Feurio doesn't recognize it with the last driver update. The AOpen drive would be easily identified: http://www.cdr.cz/rekordery/aopen/crw5224.html |

| The two burners I've been using lately identify themselves as: CDWRITER IDE5224 52x24x52 CD-RW Roxio thinks they are CD-Text capable. Nero also recognizes them Supposedly both write CD-Text, but My Sony CD-Text capable CD changer doesn't read the CD-Text. minix Thanks for responding to my post. wow! "generic" drives !! Yes, they are cheap, but the point is that if Roxio and Nero both recognize these burners and indicat that they are writing CD-Text, why don't they? Are the burners just crap? Or is it a software glitch or some obscure setting that I can change so this works? Is it the Sony that is defective? Is there a way I can tell if CD-Text has been written to the CD? According to this: http://www.goldenhawk.com/devices.htm the 2nd drive might be an AOpen or Buslink rebadged Ricoh 52x, but if Feurio doesn't recognise it, then my post is useless (if it were the AOpen you would need the latest driver update to detect it correctly and burn CD-Text). I have the latest Roxio, and Roxio does recognize the drive and the Write CT-Text check box is enabled. This is one of the reasons why I don't like rebadged drives. In this case, I would try CDRWin and burnatonce if Feurio doesn't recognize it with the last driver update. Not using Feurio, don't have Feurio. |

CD2WAV32 and press the CD-Text button. If your drive is supported by Feurio, try the CD-Text button in CD-Manager that I explained before. If it's not supported, you should enable reading CD-Text in Feurio CD-Manager -> Program Parameters -> Special Parameters -> Special Parameters. Quote:

The demo has no limit in time nor options. It doesn't install any system driver, unlike Roxio or Nero, so it won't cause any harm. You'll need the latest driver update if it's an AOpen 52x: If the drive isn't detected, you can select the generic MMC driver. In this case, CD-Text isn't guaranteed to work, but it wouldn't be the first time that Nero don't write CD-Text and Feurio does it with the generic driver. Oh, and you can also try EAC. The burning engine isn't as good, but it should read CD-Text as well. www.exactaudiocopy.de Also www.burnatonce.com None of these programs install garbage.

| [quote]Originally posted by minix [b] Maybe Ahead and Roxio haven't tested those drives extensively, and they enable CD-Text for all drives by default or they decided to report "CD-Text capable" for drives with those names... ? That might explain it. Yes, you need software capable of reading CD-Text. Thanks - I'll give these a try. Roxio and Ahead are known to claim that they will write CD-Text, and then it doesn't work... My experience supports that theory. If the drive isn't detected, you can select the generic MMC driver. In this case, CD-Text isn't guaranteed to work, but it wouldn't be the first time that Nero don't write CD-Text and Feurio does it with the generic driver. Again, I'll try these and let you know. |

You need the lastest driver update, as it's said here. Feurio doesn't need ASPI layer in Windows XP (it can use the native interface). ASPI 4.60 is recommended in Win98.
