Can anyone help me with this........

Hi all.

I was wondering how to extract the vocals from a song (acapella) I have about 5-6 gigs worth but you cant always get what your looking for.Now I now this question should be answerd by someone who produces music but some say that its imposible to extract the vocals from a song because the vocals sometimes reach the same frequenzy as the music,so it is in posible to get a clean acapella...However some people have made clean acapellas using different programs. There are a few programs that clame to extract vocals from a song but the end resault is very pooooo!.So anyway can somebody help me with this or point me in the right direction on how to make them plz.
Thanks in advance Danny G

Who? What different programs?

I'm sure any program claiming to do that would produce garbage.

I wouldn't even bother with it...You won't get good enough quality to play at a live show, or to release for that matter.

I'm don't know what genre of music you are talking about, but you might be surprised to see how many acapella mixes are available on 12" vinyl and CD singles. I have many records with acapella mixes on the flipside, etc.

Re: Can anyone help me with this........

There are programs that are supposed to remove vocals and not music, but the result is alway's very poor , because you will take portions of the music or the voice away too.

The only way to remove music and leave the vocals is to have the original multitrack recording made by the recording studio.

I have searched a little around, but programs that try to remove music and leave vocals , nope !

There is currently no way to do this. Some progs claim to have the ability to do this, but under certain conditions, meaning

a]the vocal track should be mono
b]the vocal track should be panned 100% center
c]the vocal track should not have any stereo FX applied [reverb-chorus etc]

the reason for all the above is that the prog extracts audio by inverting the phase which cancels frequencies that are panned right and left, leaving only the mono material panned center. BUT. there are more stuff panned center like snare drums, kick drums, and everything else the guys that mixed the tune wanted. So the chances of actually getting a clean acapella are minimal
