i convert the cracked wma to mp3 at 328 dvd quality who gives a monkeys if no one belives me.i wont go to jail as i paid for the files htat are protected i pay £20 a month.
also what wopuld i gain out of protected wma files if i couldnt crack them?.

If I have a WMA file from Napster then they are encoded at 128kbps. If I convert it to mp3 at 192kbps (a wider spectrum), it's still the same quality as 128kbps but just as a bigger file. You can't create audio that was never there.

It'd be like downloading a image file (something.jpg) opening Photoshop, creating a new file thats 2 times the site then pasting the something.jpg. Something.jpg will still only take up it's origional size. Sure I could enlarge it, but the quality isn't going to be any better (and will be pixleated).

ok heres how i do it.Iv brought a 24bit 6channel studio soundcard for the best sound quality then you use windows media player to play the protected wma files and then you use polderbitS sound recorder and i use it to record the wma to dvd quality mp3 by using the settings/option button on polderbitS, the output file is about 8meg then you use nero to burn a audion cd and tick the audio normlise box and then burn it to cd
then you use audio magician to rip the cd either to wma or to mp3 at 128 quality.
this should only be used on protected files that you have paid for.It works great and the sound quality is better then the original protected wma file.
there is no other way of getting over the protection unless you had the code to unlock the wma file but only the companys that make the music have the codes.

a) All you're doing is a slower way of doing the "winamp method" not to mention the loss of quality for the digital-to-analog then back to digital conversion you're doing. WinAMP is better because its straight digital-to-digital (no sound card involved)

b) You asked people to send their wma's to you... well if the license is on their computer and not yours then you'll be unable to even play the file, unless you have that same mp3 (or plan on just re-downloading their music from napster). So why ask them to send a protected wma file? Seems pointless.

And how can you rationalize having greater quality than the origional wma? YOU CANNOT CREATE AUDIO THAT WASNT THERE TO BEGIN WITH! How many times do I have to tell you this? The only way i'd partially agree is if you used a Sonic Maximizer or some other sort of audio enhancer, but even then it's computer enhanced, thus NOT better than the origional.

You cant rip a song in winamp without a friging soundcard buddie no possable way of doing it.

who not just by a cd from a superstore and then rip it to mp3 so you can listen to it on your mp3 player instead of joining napster and having paid for a protected file that wont burn on to cd?

i downloaded some music from napster for a chalange to see if the code could be cracked but it cant it can only be recorded by winamp or any other program.

I will say this though, yes you can record in WinAMP by bypassing the soundcard completely. The output is changed to the mp3 encoder instead of a soundcard. This would even work on a machine with no sound capabilities.

Please don't talk on subjects for which you have no experience. Also please learn how to type and provide some thought-provoking responses rather than 6th grade insults.

What absolute crap, man I just wasted my time listening to this guys wrong info. Then again it was kinda funny that he couldn't take it when he was wrong. Maybe one of us should give him some linkage to the WinAMP converter.

Could someone explain how to do the WinAMP thing, to unprotect it so I can convert my music to AAC format for iTunes?

Just remember don't connect to the internet while installing or running winamp (that includes background processes), also set it to not get updates automatically in options, and also set your connection type to none. And whatever you do, don't use the latest version of Winamp.
