| "Audio Cannot Be Converted" Error Msg The help desk wizards at Memorex and Rhapsody have been useless with this problem for over two weeks. I have a new Memorex external CDR-RW + DVD Rom and have been trying to burn 14 audio tracks I purchased from Rhapsody to a CD. The tracks were saved on my hard drive as .rax, but when I use CRhapsody's software to burn the CD, I get an error message pop up after the 1st track burn process reads "Audio Cannot Be Converted." The first track mysteriously plays music for roughly half the song, then it cuts out to nothing. Cannot hear anything on the remaining 13 tracks, either through CRhrapsody or on regular audio/stereo players. Please help! (P.S. I already cleaned my hard drive, increased my pagefile.sys, ran spyware/AV/HJT to remove problems, then reinstalled CRhapsody and reinstalled the driver for the CD burner.) |

| Re: "Audio Cannot Be Converted" Error Msg I understand that .rax is encypted so that you can´t burn these tracks to cd. Also that various types of protection exist. One suggestion was that Realplayer can do it (but I would be surprised). If you can play these from your HD, then you might try to capture the audio output with Audacity (great free program...Google for a download), and then export as WAV or MP3 or Oggs Vorbis. Anything will then be able to burn this as usual.

| Re: "Audio Cannot Be Converted" Error Msg Are you trying to burn these tracks in CD Audio format, or as a data CD? A lot of people report that Rhapsody will allow you to burn as a CD Audio? You may also want to try some different burning software in case the Rhapsody software is causing problems too. Burrrn is a good free application for burning CDs download here If you could do that then you could re-rip the CD as an MP3 file, which gets round the DRM issue. (I haven't tried this myself as I won't download music with DRM ) |
