Audio Burning Clarification

Hello All!,

I am hoping for some clarification from members with expertise regarding Audio Burning.

I want to convert Mp3 Tracks to Audio CD format (and then burn them of course).

I have a Liteon Drive which burns upto 52x on cdr and 16x dvd. etc.

If using 52x TY Media in order to get the best quality audio result (I know I will be losing alot through the conversion process) - what speed should i be burning audio cds at generally

Does the 'burn slow for better audio' principle still apply to high speed media?

Also - What progam would you suggest to converty mp3 to cd audio format?

Thanks!

Re: Audio Burning Clarification

I prefer to burn at 16x for audio, but that's just my preference.

There are a few programs that folk will recommend for converting mp3 to .cda, but I just tend to use Nero - works well for me.

Re: Audio Burning Clarification

Check out Burrrn, it's a fantastic little app for burning from file or cue sheet. It'll process replaygain tags if they're there and hopefully in the future it'll support drive offsets.

Re: Audio Burning Clarification

Amarz, I have seen valid arguments for and against the 'burn slow for better audio' issue.

Media designed to burn at 52 (for example) might burn audio 'best' at 4 or 8 or 16 or 32 or etc... A burner may burn at 52 but it might burn audio 'best' at 4 or 8 or 16 etc... I believe it is a combination of media and burner that makes the most difference.

So, it seems experimenting or finding results from others with your burner model (and frimware version) would be best.

Re: Audio Burning Clarification

The burning media and method do slightly affect audio quality, but by far the biggest factor affecting the quality of your burn will be the quality of the MP3 itself.
