| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero Ok, here's the deal. Never had a DVD writer, only a CD writer. Sony, that came with ExtremeCD. I bought the NEC 2510a bare(no software). A friend gave me nero 5.5.9.9 so i installed it to use with the 2510a. For some reason it(nero) won't recognize my DVD writer. I was told other applications that came with my CD writer could be causing conflict so i have uninstalled both EasyCD AND CD extreme. Still won't recognize it. Arrrrgh.... Gonna try and uninstall reinstall nero and reboot. I'm at wits end.. I no longer have the CD writer hooked up. Replaced it with the NEC burner. Now all i have is a CD-Rom and the NEC writer. |

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero The reason why your NEC DVD recorder is not recognized is simply because the Nero version you installed is too old. Nero 5.5 has been replaced with Nero 6 and currently we are at version 6.3.1.17 I believe. It's recommended to install this version. Once you've done this you can use your NEC burner and use the default DVD-Video profile for burning DVD-Video discs. You can download/purchase Nero from www.nero.com

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero I upgraded from Nero 5 to the 6 package the first day I could with the fantastic deal they had. I have never had a disk rejected by Nero, although I have no doubt that it could happen. I found that there were bugs earlier on in some of the DVD creation tools that have been worked out and that the product has shown continuous improvement. I would also like to say that I find the advice that G@M3FR3@K is giving to be very solid and helpful and I have enjoyed reading it. I will make a general remark about Sony and their product line after experiencing several of their product line. I will say, lousy support, I believe that they have a philosophy to always create some proprietary items in their products in the hope of controlling the market place. It didn't work with thei beta VHS, I am greatly hoping it does not work with their crummy ATRACK audio format. I have a Sony Clie PDA that I cannot upgrade to the mose popular PDA audio player because of the proprietary nature of their chips. We also cannot forget their memory sticks which are fading fast because they refuse to work with a consortium of other vendors. I think if you get a Sony anything, be prepared to only get Sony products to guarantee success with it. They don't play well with other vendors. I have a Optowrite 8x DVD burner and a TDK 40x CD burner and never had a problem with Nero, as a matter of fact. |

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero I'm kinda newbie to DVD burning but i've done some successful DVD movie burnings using DVDShrink. But recently I've wasted 7 DVD+R discs on this particular DVD region free movie. I've followed the same steps as before using DVD Shrink as well as your set-up for DVD Compilation using Nero Burn 6 Ultra Edition and everytime I get the following error messages: - Burn Compilation failed - Close of disc-at-once failed Could it be I ran accross a bad set of discs? Set up - Hardware: Toshiba Satellite Pro 3.06GHz Mobile P4; 512MB DDR RAM; ATI Radeon Mobility 9700 VRAM 64MB; 50GB HDD; Mashita DVD-RAM UJ-820S Super Multi Drive. Software: Win XP; Nero Burn 6 Ultra Edition version 6.0.0.0; firmware revision 1.00; DVD Shrink 3.1 |

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero Update to the latest version of Nero and see if this helps. I have the latest version and still continue to get this message at times. It's really a hit and miss situation with me right now. It's very frustrating after a month of GREAT quality burns then this happens.

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero As you see from alot of the posts media plays a large part in this. Just because you tried a different brand means nothing. I suggest you read a little about media here at cdfreaks and familiarize yourself with what is good. Also price usually means nothing. As I said before if your system is up to snuff media is the problem. If your system is kind of slow you might have to shut down programs running in the background, and keep the drive defragmented. Depending on what im doing I defrag daily or close to it. |

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero I doubt it has anything to do with the Nero DVD-Video profile. It's probably a problem related to either the compression software you're using (check the compressed files on your hard disk with a DVD software player), the media you're using, your burniner, or a combination. Without additional info from you it's impossible to say what the problem would most likely be..

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero when i burn my dvd with nerovision, i can play on my dvd player (apex ad-5131), my dvd rw drive (benq dw800), my computer dvd drive but not on my sony dvd player (dav-c770). if i use dvd shrink and burn it with nero manually (pick burn data disc then new then pick movie on the left bar then drag video_ts into nero video_ts). i can play it on my sony dav-c770. so, if i want to copy a normal dvd movie. it plays fine on my sony dav-c770. the problem is .. i want to rip files using nerovision convert avi, mpeg1, etc into dvd format and burn into dvd format. it won't play on my sony dvd player. does it come from nerovision menu editor?? compare nero and roxio easy dvd .. which is better ?? any solution ?? |

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero Hi there neogin, First off, if you want them to work you'll have to encode them properly - NeroVision doesn't do that. Secondly, For most in the DVD backup community, Roxio and Nero don't co-exsist in the same universe together. You can't even delete Roxio properly without a seperate proggy. Roxiozapper - Find it here: http://www.microadvantage.net/downloads/zapper60.zip If you like Nero, bury Roxio - Once you've done that, reboot your PC to "flush everything out of your PC's system ![]() If you wish to convert files either use - http://www.avi-vcd.com/ Or convert your AVI's to VCDs and follow these notes - a guide for going FROM VCD to DVD (by Minion) Well if the files aren't encoded yet then you should Use Mpeg2 instead of Mpeg1 because it is a better format and maybe "Bump" the bitrate up to about 1500kbs. This will increase the Quality quite a Bit and still allow you to get 6 hours on a DVD if you use a audio bitrate of 192kbs.... This DVD Format is Called SIF or CIF format and not every DVD authoring program will support this DVD format especially Cheapo DVD authoring programs. Both DVD Lab and TMPGEnc DVD Author will support this DVD format accept with DVDLab you have to use Mpeg2.... You can just encode your files to VCD but use 48000HZ Audio and then author them to a DVD with no problems. That way you could fit 6+ hours of VCD quality Video on a DVD.... When you encode a low resolution VCD file to full resolution DVD Format you loose a lot of quality because you are resizing a small resolution to a large resolution which is were you loose all of the quality, but there is no need to re-encode VCD's to DVD because VCD's are already DVD compliant accept for the audio which needs to be 48000hz to be on a DVD...... a Note about settings in the GOP Structure settings: Set the "Output Interval for Sequence Header" to "1" and this will Put 1 sequence header before every GOP... You actually get Better quality when using a smaller GOP but it can cause a slightly bigger file size... This is the GOP I use: Number of I Pictures in GOP: 1 Number of P Pictures in GOP: 4 Number of B Picture ins GOP: 2 Number of Frames in GOP: 15 Cheers, Pete

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero Hey G@M3FR3@K, just wanted to ask if the profile for Nero 6.0.0.19 to 6.0.0.23 still works for 6.6.0.1. It doesn't give that refresh complete message but it still creates the Video and Audio Folders. If not, could you do a new configuration file for Nero 6.6.0.1? Thanks ![]() |

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero thanks for the tutorial! i guess i would be considered a newbie cause i have been using NVE for months with little problem. I am getting ready to upgrade to NVE3 and I am working on a project with a deadline (always the case) and no time to learn how to burn manually (now). I have this quick question for NVE: how long of an AVI file will fit on a DVD-R? The movie I have in progress (premier pro) is about 55 minutes. Is that going to fit on the DVD? I would also like to include a picture slide show too. Is there a calculation for DV AVI to DVD? thanks!!! jigs |

Can some please help me I am wasting my money and time with this and I need to figure it out as soon as possible. |

| Re: Setting up a DVD-Video compilation in Nero I'm glad I found this site and particular thread as I have been making quite a few coasters and am not too thrilled about it. I am currently using Nero 5.5.10.52 (bundled with my writer). What I am trying to do is make a compilation of various music videos that I have ripped off several DVDs with Shrink 3.2. The problem I am having is, I think, the fact that when I drag videos into the compilation window I have to do so as folders instead of the individual files found in the VIDEO_TS folder. Obviously this is because each VIDEO_TS folder contains mostly files named the same. Windows wants to overwrite these which is NO GOOD (obviously). I have tried using the Nero 5.5 profile that G@m3FR3@K provided with tweaks found in this thread, but no luck. It will play in PowerDVD but only in "file mode" not "disc mode". And it won't play on any stand alone players. My Zenith keeps prompting for MP3player or JPEG player after reading the disc. My media is suspect, I know, and I plan on improving it, but will it help in my situation or am I right in thinking the problem lies in how my compilation window is set up (several folders as opposed to one VOB with attending files)? |
