Nero & InCD Discuss, NeroVision - how to create a DVD menu with text links rather than image buttons? at Burning Software forum; I'm creating a simple DVD in NeroVision (latest version, 4.0.7.16) but I can't work out how to create my top-level menu using selectable TEXT links, rather than thumbnail/image buttons with text below them. I just need a few short descriptions in a column

NeroVision - how to create a DVD menu with text links rather than image buttons?

I'm creating a simple DVD in NeroVision (latest version, 4.0.7.16) but I can't work out how to create my top-level menu using selectable TEXT links, rather than thumbnail/image buttons with text below them. I just need a few short descriptions in a column that the user can scroll up and down through before selecting the item they want.

I'm sure it must be possible as that format is the standard layout used for top-level menus on most DVDs - it's only sub-menus (such as chapter selections, etc) that normally feature thumbnail images to click on.

Any advice gratefully received!

All I might think of is to set the buttons to use a custom picture and then make a picture using the text you want.

I don't know which file sets the parameters for setting up the buttons, but if you knew that, you might be able to edit it with something to change the default behavior.

Yeah, I thought of that too - but when using custom pictures NeroVision still wants to put them in a big square box. What I really want is for the the options to be shown as neatly laid out lines of text, superimposed over a short moving video background (or even a still photo).

That's the standard layout for pretty much every top-level menu on any DVD I've ever seen, so I find it amazing NeroVision doesn't seem to do it (especially as it's probably the easiest one to code!). That said, there doesn't seem to have been any real feature/enhancement development on this product for the last three years plus, so maybe I'm just being hopeful? Even a simple bug-fix (VBR MP3s not importing with the correct running time) took them over 6 months to acknowledge the problem and another 18 to fix it.
