Hi,

I've Used Nerovision Express 2 To Burn A Mpg File Onto Dvd,the Process Runs Smoothly And Burns The Dvd But When I Come To Play It On My Philips Dvdr70 It Just Shows The Menu Screen And When I Press On The Chapter It Will Not Play.

Is It Best To Not Have Anything Running/searching The Net While Using Nerovision,can I Set The Dvd To Boot Automatically When Inserted Into My Dvd Player.

Any Advice On Why I Have This Problem Would Be Reaaly Appreciated...

ok....i've burnt thr same mpg file twice now and it plays but only from 12th out of the 18 chapters,i can choose any chapters 12-18 but can't play any before that...the second burn is similar,12 chapters and only plays from 7 onwards...

i'd appreciate any advice please...it's really bugging me!!

thanks for your reply,yeah i think they are quite dodgy dvd+rw....the brand is IMATION...??

what makes would you recommend...i surpose the usual sony/tdk/verbatim...etc??

also,how can i compress an avi/mpg file that is already on my hardrive??,i can find plenty of software for doing dvd's...dvd shrink/nero recode,but can't find one that will do hardrive files??

any suggestions...?

They're all good makes, but expensive too. The best brand for the best price is probably Ritek. But make sure they're definately Ritek and another brand that's have tried to pass them off as Ritek - that happens quite a lot. I use Ritek all the time, but occasionally I get Power Calibration Errors which is a compatability problem with the disc and the drive.

Are you from the UK?

I use NeroVision Express 2 - it's in the Nero 6 package. You'll need the DVD-Video plug-in, but once you have it all you can add different types of video files to a compilation, menus, soundtracks etc. and then burn it to DVD.

That's because although a .avi might be 700mb, it's compressed video. When you add it to a compilation in NeroVision it tells you what the total size will be when burnt to DVD. If the compilation goes over limit for your media, you can either select an option to encode the movie in long play so that it will fit onto a blank DVD. I prefer to burn the compilation to a hard drive image folder - even if it goes over the limit - and then just burn it to DVD with Nero Recode, DVD Shrink or Pinnacle Instant Copy.

If the overall size amounts to 6gb, 1.3gb will be over the limt. If you choose to encode in long play format, Nero will shrink it down to 3gb (half the size) so that it fits onto DVD. However, if you use Recode, Srink or Instant Copy you will only need to shrink the movie to about 85% of the original size instead of 50% (long play).

thanks gary.... ...i have been doing the burn to harddrive and then recoding but sometimes nerovision just crashes....it's happened a few times,it would probably be better if i just do that instead of downloading and surfing at the same time...
