Re: Nero v7.5.7.0 released!

Have just installed version 7.5.7.0 on Vista RC2 and it installed perfectly without any queries so this version must be compatible.
One massive plus is that Nero Scout does not immediately set itself up and is opened from the tools directory (if you want it).
I only installed:
Burning ROM, Recode, Labels, Show Time & InCD
So far all working ok and the only problem is InCD which still changes the dates of copied files

Cool! Im in office right now.. Will install it as soon as i get home.. Can you please check if you can browse a folder full of videos with this installed? Earlier versions (even nero lite) used to give a "COM Surrogate" error while doing that on Vista.

@hornblower: How did you get it to install on vista? It tries to upgrade (??) my directx to 9.0c (whereas vista already has DX10)..

Just let it try and update to 9.0c
When it tries it and finds that a newer version is already installed it just skips installing 9.0c and continues with the install.
I never did have a problem with viewing video files with Nero in Vista so not quite sure what the problem is.

Dunno.. But as soon as i try playing videos (xvid, divx) in media player, i get "COM Surrogate has stopped working". And the error disappears after un-installing nero.. Anyway, glad its working perfect for you!

Re: Nero v7.5.7.0 released!

Some info regarding this build in Vista:

Installed Nero 7.5.7.0 over NeroLite 7.5.1.1, and I ended up with an installer hang a couple of times, though ignoring them and letting things continue seemed to work out OK. I did get the COM surrogate stopped responding message when adding an AVI file in Nero Vision, but the burn completed and the disc plays fine in my standalone. This is despite several instances of Aero Galss turning itself on and off early in the transcoding process, but then it finally settled on "on" and things proceeded without a hitch.

The problem though, is that my start menu stopped responding. I have the start menu set to classic, and I could browse the programs and folders, but could not select any of the items. Programs couldn't be launched (though I could double click items on the desktop, or in explorer to launch them). Even logoff and shutdown could not be selected. I ended up doing the three finger salute, selecting logoff, and logging back on, which seemed to clear up the lingering issues.

In general, from VERY limited testing, Nero seems to "work" in Vista RC2, but still plenty of bugs. Haven't tried Recode yet. That's next on my list.
