Nero invalid parameter expert needed Hello-- I'm in dire need of expert assistance, please help me, i've found no useful documentation of this issue in hours of googling. Am I the only one on the planet to have this problem I wonder...hope not... I have a nec nd-1300a dvd burner on winme. I've burnt 5 dvd-r with no problem with easy cd creator 5. Now, all of a sudden, can't burn anything, on any media ! in easy cd creator or in nero ! I uninstalled easy cd creator where I was getting "the parameter is incorrect" errors In Nero : I get "illegal medium" and "could not perform start of disc-at once" on my dvd-r and "invalid field in parameter" on dvd+rw, nothing works ! Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks, --sam

The only help I can offer is that I'm having the same problem with a Sony DRU510a -- but with CD-R's (DVD's burn fine), so at least you'll know it's nothing new. I'm coming to the conclusion it's most likely either system or firmware related. In my case, the burner will handle smaller CD's and CD-RW's just fine -- I get the error with 90-minute discs (and with 99-minute, but Sony's setup instructions warn they might not work.) It isn't the software, for I also get it in other programs, and I can switch directly to the other burning device (a Plextor SCSI 12/10/32S) without restarting whichever prog I'm running and it burns fine. Submitted the problem to Sony USA support, only to be told to send it to Sony support in my own country (Australia) -- BIG JOKE Sony Australia's website doesn't even know the DRU510A exists, and "Sony support" in Australia is an oxymoron. So it looks like I'm on my own once again. Sooner or later I'll find it, I suppose... When (and if...) I do I'll post it.

Thanks for answering ! Two is better than one... I'll share my findings so far : - This problem started out of the blue, no obvious configuration changes I could trace it to (except maybe a fuller hd, but that seems really unlikely) - The problem did occur on a blank media type I hadn't tried before, but changed to media which should obviously work, (for example tried with the dvd that came with the drive) to no avail - Googling around, found some references to this problem in conjunction with driver conflicts, and having two burning programs installed, which I did ( Easy Cd creator basic & Nero) Removing Easy cd creator and manually at least some of its drivers and moving to a full version of Nero hasn't helped, In my experience calling official support has almost never worked, usually find answers by searching, but here haven't found anything... good luck and keep me posted, --sam

No, in my case, at least, the ASPI layer is fine -- for the external SCSI devices I use, it *has* to be. The problem *might* be about to reveal itself -- Nero has just taken to announcing that the media is too small when asked to overburn (and on both devices -- the Plextor has overburned quite happily for years.) And it happens with Nero 5x *and* the full (6.0.0.9) version of Nero 6 (also with CloneCd in copy mode.) Starting to look like a system failure in the offing. Running system repair on XP Pro didn't help, tho'... ![]()

Re: Nero invalid parameter expert needed Hello! I also had the same problem and i figure it out. As i saw it's a hardware problem concerning your dvd-writer.(I have Nero in Linux) The solution i have is this(it's not permanent but it works): Just turn off the combuter. Then close the I/O switch. Open it again Boot Everytime that i follow that steps i see that the problem "dissapears"and i can burn everything ![]()
