Nero 7 Application error - Club CDFreaks

Hello, Whenever i try to run nero burning rom (funny story behind the name check it out) I get

"Nero Burning ROM: nero.exe -Application Error

The instructions at "0x027dd51b" referenced memory at "0x0000000c". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminiate the program
Click on Cancel to debug the program

both options close the program....what do i do...I cant think of anything i have tried to uninstall and reinstall to no benifit..

The last post suggests changing the CD key. I'm not sure why anyone would suggest this unless....

This may be something you have to wait to get a response from Nero.

Thanks! I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what was wrong with my system! This worked for me.

Doing that restores Nero Burning Rom to open correctly. But it also restores all the default settings so if you like to change any of these you need to go in and change them to how you like it once back in Nero.

I'm just leaving it like this and not using NeroExpress for now. They'll fix the switching back and forth in the October 26th update. Nero Burning Rom is the main program so I prefer to keep that working rather than NeroExpress.

Do you have the latest updates of Nero 7? I am personally having all kinds of problems with it - but not this specific problem.

0x0000000c is generally memory errors... download microsoft memory diagnositc or memtest86 and check your ram.

for memtest yes, ms mem diag can create an iso which you can burn to cd or it can be put on floppy. if you have no other prog that burns iso's except crashing nero, you could trial progs like magicISO, ultraISO, or might be some free ones that will burn an ISO. Oh and if you use the MS diag, run all 11 tests, it defaults to 6 test quickmode.

That's just Nero's way of doing things - when you put in your legally purchased Nero 7 serial number - it is no longer a "Demo" or "Trial" version

I also had a problem starting Nero Burning Rom 7 after using Nero Express 7. This issue was resolved with ver 7.0.1.4. Note that when upgrading to this version you need to uninstall your current version first. Also note what my fellow Canuck mentioned in the previous post that you will see references to "Demo" during the upgrade. I'm glad he posted that as I would have been concerned that I was "upgrading" my purchased version to a demo version! LOL
Also should mention that inserting the Nero CD to do the uninstall as described in the Quickstart Guide did not bring up the uninstall wizard. I used the Windows XP Add/Remove from the Control Panel. The Nero folder and a few files were left after the uninstall. I didn't delete these, and when installing the upgrade ver 7.0.1.4 it filled in my product key automatically.

This is gonna sound crazy, but every time I've updated Nero 7, starting with 7.0.1.x it has changed one letter or number in my serial number. My mom's did the same thing. We noticed it after having some errors and reinstalling that it doesn't copy the serial number correctly when you upgrade. The errors disappear when we correct the serial number to the legally purchased ones we have.

I deleted in the register the voice BCGControlBarVersion and now it works as in the beginning
