| Re: nero 6, CD-R lead-out error @ Evil Inside75 Welcome . I didn't see this error log being about a failed leadout. Timewise, it looked about halfway done. But I think you are pushing the limits of space on the disc. You are expecting the disc to be perfect to the very edge and this may not be the case. Try the burn with one less song(I know that sucks as you have set you play list just so)or try a burn leaving a minute or two of space at the end. Let us know if this works for you.Upgrading to the latest version of Nero might help.

| Re: nero 6, CD-R lead-out error You might try burning at a lower speed. Usually when a write fails at the outer edge of a disc, disc quality is the problem. Sometimes a lower write speed will work. Other times, you have to do as please said and reduce the amount of data you're writing to avoid the problem area. Another thing to try is a different brand of disc. Also you might want to look for a newer firmware for the burner. You have version 1.00. DRF |

| Re: nero 6, CD-R lead-out error I tried cutting a track and also reducing burn speed and I updated my version of nero and used a different brand of CD-R, and it still gives me burn failure. If I try to copy a disc it will only let me use a CD-RW. It won't even acknowledge a CD-R in the drive. WTF? | Re: nero 6, CD-R lead-out error A firmware is the information within the cd/dvd writer which is used to burn the disk correctly, if the drive cant recognize the black disk it will not burn properly, which may be happening here. Here is a link to the firmware updates: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1804 If your PC is an HP or a Compaq choose the 1.07 file if its a Dell choose E108, download the correct file and it will update your drive to a newer version. |

| Re: nero 6, CD-R lead-out error I cant seem to find any firmware upgrades for my Emachine. WTF. I'm ready to call it quits on this P.O.S. I'm sick and tired of not being able to burn a disc normally. I have to burn to CD-RW then from CD-RW to CD-R and it doesn't burn half the time. WTF! This happens with any and all burn programs I use. Where oh where is the light at the end of this tunnel? I'm ready to get off this train. I have an Emachine W2888 with 2.80ghz Intel Celeron, 48x Max write CD-RW combo drive and all that other B.S. Is it time to get a Dell? |

| Re: nero 6, CD-R lead-out error Ok, I disabled the IMAPI and I burned my first full cd today without a failure! But, it still wont let me collect songs from different cd's and burn them on a disc without burning to CD-RW first. Any ideas why this is happenning? Thanx for info on the IMAPI though. |

| Re: nero 6, CD-R lead-out error I realized that I didn't fully update my firmware because I didn't burn a boot disc. So I did it with record now and rebooted with it in my drive and presto...instant update. Now it will burn anything I try to burn. I can even burn songs I collected from different cd's of mine. I just want to thank you guys for the helpful info because without it I would have bought a new drive when I didn't need one. Kudos guys!! |

| Re: nero 6, CD-R lead-out error i'M NEW TO POSTING so bear w/ me. This thread sounds similar to my prob w/ nero software. When contacted Nero they said it's a prob. w/ firmware and I could find the manufacturer of it and contact them. Manufacturer of HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4418 is not indicated. Just "Standard" and version 5.1.2535.0. Providor: microsoft. I tried looking for firmware on Microsoft site and thru the link provided here but not sure what I'm looking for. My machine is a Gateway E-4100. Quote:
