I just installed Nero 6.6 on a fresh XP install. Whenever I double click an image file to burn it, it will burn the file.

After it says "burn completed sucessfully at 16x... etc etc" I hit ok... but then the burning rom window seems to lock up. I cannot click done. Everytime i click in the window the computer makes a sound. I have to end the task at this point.


This has happened on two separate fresh installs I did. Thoughts? TIA.

How about expanding on your procedure to burn the image (.iso/.nrg) file. Do you have Nero Burning ROM open when you click? Are you using the option under Recorder-Burn Image (I see double clicking a .nrg file will set up for a burn)?

Does the drawer open on the burner when finished?

Are you waiting long enough for everything to finish?

Try to use the latest version of Nero 6.6 since some version do have problem also make sure you S/N for Nero is OK for the version you are using.

I burn a Nero Vision project to an image. I guess its an NRG file. Then I simply double-click the NRG file in my documents, then NERO burning rom opens... asks me what speed I want record at...etc. I select BURN then the DVD burns. I get Burn completed Sucessfully at 16x. I can hit OK to that... but after i hit ok and that window goes away... the existing Burning ROM window locks up. I cannot click DONE to clear it.

If I need to burn another NRG file... I have to open up another instance of burning rom and the same thing as above happens. The burn will work... but it will then lock up another burning rom window.

I have the same problem when I upgraded from 6.6.0.13 to 6.6.1.4 which is the last upgrade.

in any case people .. - i also want to know - if i should be usinng Nero 7 or 6?

I am on Windows ME.. - what's recommended for Win. ME?

When I follow your procedure, hings work the same, but when mine finishes, the CD ejects, when I click the OK on the burn finished successfully window, I am left with a empty Nero Burning ROM window, which I can then select to burn another image using the Recorder-Burn Image option, or close the window.

Things I might suggest--first, make sure you cancel out of the Windows dialogue box that opens when you insert the CD. Next, try burning the image by opening Nero Burning ROM first and then using the Recorder-Burn Image option, and lastly, try burning to the image recorder to see if the lockup is effected by operation of the CD.

And Darkman, Nero 7 doesn't say anything about WinME, so I would have to say stick with 6.

which version of 6 is most stable then? (sorry for repeatedness (asked this in the other thread too) - just anxious somewhat, lol)

Find ver 6.6.0.18 I think its in the other thread.

Alternatively use Imgburn as your image burning app.

Hi, just wanted to say I have the EXACT same problem with 6.6.1.4. I've been testing all evening yesterday and eventually ended up suspecting it was a Nero bug. This thread confirms that I guess.

Everything works fine if you open Nero first and then import the .NRG file. Also, when using ALT+TAB in Windows, Nero doesn't show up. It also occurs when using the "Image recorder".

Before I found this thread I was planning to roll back to an earlier Nero version. I'll see if I can find that 6.6.0.18, if it really is that much better. Thanks!

edit: Just installed 6.6.0.18, problem seems to have gone.
