Recently when burning DVD's using Nero Burning ROM 7.10.1.0 it is going quite slow. My drive and discs are rated up to 18x but it is only burning at 1x and verifying at the same speed. It currently takes about 1 hour to complete the process when before it would take 10 minutes.

Also Nero is now completely taking over my system. It automatically turns its system priority to High and is using all the CPU. Never did that before either.

Any ideas on what could cause this?

System Info:

Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 932B+ TFT 19"
Video Card: BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC (169.71 drivers)
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audgy MP3+
Motherboard: Asus A7N8X (Latest BIOS update on it)
RAM: 2xCosair 512MB Sticks (Not sure of the model number. Can provide if needed)
Power Supply: Ultra X Connect 580W
DVD-RAM Drive: LG GSA-H22L
Nero Burning ROM 7.10.1.0
Clone CD 5.3.0.1
Clone DVD 2.9.1.2

Also have SecureROM and Starforce installed for a few games.

Also of note the drive has the 1.02 firmware from LG. This is the latest as far as I can tell.

hmmm, DMA mode in this device?, firmware upgraded?

Firmware is newest. Just checked on the LG Fourm. Not sure about DMA I'm not infront of the computer right now. I'm also going to check for the NForce IDE driver since I have an Nvidia Nforce 2 motherboard.

Yep it was the Nvidia driver and the drive was also in PIO Only mode! Switched it to the Microsoft driver and DMA Ultra 4. Works great now!
