How do I ban Nero from talking to the internet/Ahead? - Club CDFreaks

I disabled automatic update, automatic etc, but I have a reason to believe my Nero is periodically checking in with Ahead.

Once I have the software, they have no right to be checking in on me or reporting to them.

Does anyone know if Nero talks to Ahead periodically and if so what can I do to prevent it?

I haven't seen it check once I disabled auto update. You could download TCPView to double check and see if it is when you suspect it.

What version to you have? If it's Nero 8 Ultra, by agreeing to the End User License Agreement, you gave them permission to contact them (Patent Activation). This does not appear to be a feature of earlier versions of Nero.

I just noticed advertisements for Nero 8 Essentials but am not aware if they have implemented this new feature in Essentails or any other Nero 8 products.

Which version your using would be of great help for other nero users to help you in stopping the auto update feature ...
I have nero 6 and when you click on Nero startsmart then click on the nero flame on the nero 6 startsmart there is a option for it to auto update..there uncheck the box and it will not auto update....rather easier for you to check on the site and download the program and update it yourself...this is for Nero 6 version...but also a good firewall will be a good way to stop the auto update trying to go to the net....

SP3 is available in the beta version and some us have used it! Also his XP could be the media center edition.

I see....OK that good enough for me...I only have XP pro 2002 SP2 would like to get SP3....but I leave it at that.....but to the OP did they get back to us what version of Nero they have>??? That would give those of us who use Nero of which version to stop the auto update??? So what version do you have OP????
