[HELP] Nero call my DVD Burner a ´virtual device´ when trying to burn a CD

[HELP] Nero call my DVD Burner a ´virtual device´ when trying to burn a CD

I have used nero for about 4-5 years now without any problems.. Untill now:

I was just about to trash the DVD Burner because I thouged it was broken, but when using any other program like fx. CloneCD I had no problem at all.

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this "virtual device" and get my drive back to normal as "IDE" in nero?

NOTE: Its not in all parts of nero it says this, only when trying to choose a burner :-S

I have never seen this before, and yes: I already tried to uninstall nero, delete the remaining files, run reg scans, restart PC etc. etc for about 7 hours now...

I were just about to format C:\ when I desided to ask you guys in here.

Thank you for the reply ( Answer I hope ).

Welcome to CDF

What burner do you have, and what version of Nero are you using?

It appears that the version of Nero is either too old to recognise your burner, or you're using an OEM copy that came with another drive.

The Image Recorder option is always there, no need to worry about that.

Re: [HELP] Nero call my DVD Burner a ´virtual device´ when trying to burn a CD

I used NERO 7 ULTRA but also tried 7.10 trail, but still the same :-(

I have never had any problems, and no its not because its locked to another drive, because it show up right in other parts of nero too... And this is ONLY a problem in nero, no matter version.

It might have been something I set my self last time I were trying to burn a DVD for the kids, but I just need to know how to delete this "virtual device" and get the IDE version back !?!?

I were trying to make a backup of my XP CD, so now there is a 560 MB XP Image connected with this "virtual device" even if there is no CD in the drive at all. Its all very weird, and as said before: I already think I know nero very well after about 5 years of using it for everything.

Any idea how to restore this (windows?) Setting? I have tried everything.

Your real drive should be available in the Choose Recorder window (or from the drop-down menu in the main window). Like Arachne said, Nero always installs an Image Recorder, so you can make an image file on the hard drive from your CD/DVD's (like you just did with your XP-CD - you can still burn to disc from that image file now, after selecting the real drive as the Recorder of course).

Hmmm... Is it me you just don´t understand, or am I not making my self clear enough here?

The virtual device I just showed you IS my DVD Burner !!!! I just need to know if there is a way to get it back, other than format c:\ ????

These two devices are the same !!!! Why can´t nero as the only app on my PC read it right any more?

Please try to understand that I am not joking about this, so please be serious when answering. Thank you.

Hello ,

Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once. The LITE-ON is NOT your DVD Burner. You will therefor choose the TSSTcorp CD/DVDW as your Recorder and be on your merry way .

I know you are desperate, but trust me, I know what I'm doing .

(Sorry for joking mode, hope you'll keep your sense of humour!)

You mean the Image you created previously? Just delete using your favourite file manager. Since you had to enter a filename for the image, you should be able to find the file - that should have the extension .NRG

"Just delete using your favourite file manager"

Offtopic:
Btw: I like the forum, and just want to know if there is somewhere in here that we can talk about the new world order or something? I am very much into things like this, you know: infowars.com - prisonplanet.com - pacsteam.pt.vu - wearechange.org etc.

Its all proven facts that the massmedia will not talk about :-(

But as said: Nice forum, nice people and I like all the fast replys and the fact that you helped me in here getting it all to work again...

Just need a guide on how to delete this xp image :-S Anyone? Is it hard?

Use Windows Explorer or your preferred file handling software to locate and delete the file.

The Living Room should fit. But first check the rules if it's okay to discuss these topics there, please.

You be better off to take your Off topic to another site and just concentrate in solving your DVD problem that members tried so hard to point you to the right solution.
