Hi!I have a problem with using my cd-writer.I have a SONY CD-RW CRX225E and I use Nero6.When the burning should start, i get this message that says "the drive is in use by another application". This message appears since i once encountered a problem from inserting a cd for a pc game that would't respond and would just make the screen flicker.I then ejected the cd,although i read after,never to eject the cd when the game is still running.Could that be the problem why i can not burn cd-s? However the device reads both music and video cd-s,but would not burn. I uninstalled the game as well, and still nothing.I have Windows XP Professional. I attached the nero error report. Thank u!

Well, I foudn out in my case, it is because the recording isnt enabled. Before the record tab could be found in properties of the dvd drive, but now it isn't there to either disable or enable it, so I guess its at the default of disable, as XP cant read that it can record. I am currently trying to get the record tab back on, and unfortunaly I cant find any drivers that would encourage XP to read its capabilities. I am going to play about with the ID cables, and the master switch, because i'm out of ideas.

i've managed to enable recording, but nero still claims the drive is being used by another application, ignore my previous posts.

I finally conceeded and took my computer to a computer shop, after they were scavaging over it like neandthrals, they explained that if you use the origianl nero that came with your computer initally, it wont read the alternative cd drive you've bought after. I made sure that my slave and master switches were in correct positions,formated windows, used a *legitimate* version of nero, and now works great!

I had the same problem. I went to my XP device manager, selected the DVD drive, and its properties. I disabled the DVD drive, then I re-enabled it. From that point, Nero gave no more in-use conflicts.

This problem is caused by Windows Media Center, using XP's built in burner program. You can disable it by opening the Media Center, go to "Tools' then "Options" click on the "Devices" tab, and select your burner in the window, then below that, click on the "Properties" button. Click on the "Recording" tab, and uncheck "Enable CD recording on this drive". By default Windows Media Center sets itself up as primary burning software.

i'm having the same problem and i can see photolady's suggestion working.

Problem is, when i click properties, within that menu there is no "recording" tab. All I have is an "audio" tab.

BTW, I'm using 9.00.00.3075

click on disable in the options box
remember to then click STOP
close down as normal your drive shold now record as normal

Hi i have the same Recorder SONY CD-RW CRX225E but i have a different type of problem. Say one day i was recording a cd for a PwrPnt presentation and the next thing i now is that when i wanted to bur an mp3 compilation gave me an error, so i tried with another burner (i use nero 6) as CloneCD, Blindwritre, Alcohol 120% but still have the same error.. well i will post the error that alohol120% gave me, it's the most complete one (BTW sorry for my english, i'm from Chile SouthAmerica, and it's a buit rusty..:P) greetings to all and BTW also i might ask for the drivers of this recorder coz i don't find 'em no matter where i looked for them. I searched the whole web! also Latinamercia Sony Website and it seems that they don't exist! well thanx a lot and now the error:

It seems my system it's not using it, since i searched where the pic shows, and nothing, still i have the application somewhere but it's not running propperly i think, i heard a reinstall of windows could help but i will loose all my unsaved stuff =( and they are GB's of mp3 and my website =/
