Considering the negative feelings for Nero 6.6.1.4 from a lot of people, I feel that Nero 6.6.0.18 is the best Nero 6 version.

Just had one question. On the Nero website, the release notes for version 6 are available till only version no. 6.6.0.16, why aren't release notes for version 6.6.0.18 and 6.6.1.4 available ??? I believe that ver. 6.6.0.16 was the last real update to Nero 6. Any comments ??

May I ask what's wrong with 6.6.1.4?

I have been using Nero 6.6.1.4 (granted I only use Nero Burning Rom for the most part) with my Plextor PX755A and it has worked great so far. That and the fact that a lot of people have negative feelings about Nero 7 means that I stay with 6.6.1.4 rather than "upgrade" to Nero 7.

Nero 6.6.0.18 is good also but I do not find anything wrong with 6.6.1.4 so that's what I use.

Nothing apart from the memory it uses.

Memory issues? I have not encountered any. And from these threads it only appeared to me that some people may be having problems, but not necessarily the majority.

Have you checked how much memory Nero 6.6.1.4 uses while burning (use task manager to see that) ???

It does use much more memory than version 6.6.0.18

But anyways if you have enough memory and Nero 6.6.1.4 is not causing you any problems than you're o.k...........................

Well, you may be right about the memory usage, but when I upgraded to Nero 6.6.1.4 and saw ULTRA BUFFER on it I know it is going to use more memory than the previous versions which did not have this feature.

My previous PC had 512MB memory and my present PC has 1GB memory, and Nero 6.6.1.4 worked flawlessly on both.

May be if you lower the memory usage of ULTRA BUFFER you can reduce the memory usage? But of course, if you think or believe Nero 6.6.0.18 is better then that's fine, just as I found 6.6.1.4 to work great.

Well it's good to know that you're having no problems with Nero 6.6.1.4, but for people who have lesser amount of memory (i.e less than 512 MB) or who don't want Nero to use huge amounts of memory, I think Nero 6.6.0.18 is the best version for them.

Because I believe that version 6.6.0.16 was the last version which included some bug fixes etc. Version 6.6.0.18 is exactly the same as version 6.6.0.16 and version 6.6.1.4 has ultrabuffer etc. taken from Nero 7, other than that these two later version don't have any bug fixes etc. So the people with ver. 6.6.0.16 don't need to upgrade either.

I dug out my copy of Nero 6.6.0.18 from my backups and installed it on a separate Windows XP partition on my PC after uninstalling 6.6.1.4. It reminded me of the reason why I use 6.6.1.4 instead of 6.6.0.18 ---- 6.6.1.4 supports bitsetting with my Plextor PX755A with 1.02 firmware, while 6.6.0.18 does not.

The program update is meant to be used when you already have a legitimate version of Nero (thus you will have a serial number) or an OEM version of Nero which comes with your CD or DVD burner.

If you have a legitimate full version of Nero 6, you can use the serial number of that copy to install.

If you have an OEM version of Nero 6, just run the update and it will update to the OEM version of 6.6.0.18.
