| CD-RW "write-protected" by InCD - contents gone! I have been using the LG-8525B cd-rw and I'm happy with it. I've been using Verbatim 32x Cd-RW media and that's okay with me, too. (Incidentally, new firmware update for 8525b at LG to v.1.04)
But I took a CD-RW (had about 500MB data on it) over to another machine to read and copy some files. The first time I loaded it, I got a directory and copied the files. I took the disc out (this other machine has incd4, too, current version) and later I put it back in. The CD's drive light flashed on and off and on and off and about a minute later, got a dialogue from INCD that said it was "write-protecting the disc to prevent damage to contents" or something like this. (And the CD-RW on this machine isn't even 32x writable - it's only 12x writable - why is it touching my disc?)
Anyways, lost all data. Only thing left was 2MB partition with Ahead's ads for get UDF reader, etc. Even returning the once working disc to my machine - same thing - no data! Tried CD-Roller 5. It recovered 254 files (actually file fragments - not ONE complete file recovered).
I erased the disc, reformatted in my machine and have had no more problems with this disc.
Can you turn off this "read-only" function in INCD? I N E V E R want to go through this AGAIN!!! |
