Best compatability?

Okay folks here's the problem......

I just authored my first DVD, and burnt it onto some ritek go4 dvd -r's, and they play fine on my standalone......however a friends standalone (which also supports -r media) won't play them??? I think this is because I used Nero 6 to burn the dvd......any suggestions on a better prog to burn with. (I've tried Record Now Max but it doesn't support my Pioneer 106 drive :S)

Cheers for any advice....FG.

Makes no diference what program you use to burn, unless you are messing up the format. Using the DVD-video compilation in Nero with the AUDIO-TS folder included, default ISO settings, you are set to go.
If the disc is not recognized at all (no disc), it's probably the media itself that the player doesn't like.

Try Taiyo Yuden DVD-R , try DVD+R media and see how it works in either case.
So you're on your own in finding the right ( 4 u & friends ) compatibility combination.

try sonic mydvd

I had a similar problem. Dvd +r would not play in my stand alone player. I tried lots of different software and finally mydvd burnt a dvd+r that will work in my stand alone player. I think it's the way mydvd encodes. It encodes in a way that is more compatable than some. Give it a try. It takes a while to encode but I have had the most luck with it. Also visit dvdrhelp.com it's a cool place for this kind of info.
