On one of my PCs, this did not make any difference to the processing time, on another, it increased the time by 50%; going by the remaining time that Nero 7 reports.

Re: Audio Sync prob Nero Vision Exp

I recently had this same problem. I tried a number of different things to fix it. My latest attempt was to disable the codecs as suggested above. I renamed the NeAudio.ax, NeAudio2.ax and NeVideo.ax files. I burned a disc using one of the problematic files, and now when played on a DVD player, I have audio but no video?!? What the heck is up with this software?????

You don't have the necessary codecs installed. There are several utils (Google is your friend) that will identify which codecs have been used in a given file (Videoinspector and G-spot are two IIRC). You will then need to install them.

I'd start off with divX and ffdshow. This site http://www.free-codecs.com/ is a good place to start.

Re: Audio Sync prob Nero Vision Exp

Thanks for the reply DrTeeth. I have now updated to the latest version of NERO. A few of my previous issues have now been solved (unable to insert errors, and one file that used to audio lag). I was able to burn one of my previously problem files with perfect results. However, I have recently dl'ed some new content and attempted to burn it to DVD. The result again was Audio and no Video, even on the menu that I created using a .png picture file and a .mp3 music file. Both the menu and each title played fine on the preview, and during transcoding operations video was visible as well. Since installing the newest version of Nero, I have not changed anything with regard to the Ne.ax codecs. I have also used gspot on the offending files and found that I do have 4 compatible codecs already installed (which I already knew, seeing as how the files played flawlessy on any media player I had tried). Any Idea what is happening now????

EDIT - Sorry... I am drifting off topic here. I will start a new thread for this issue.

Re: Audio Sync prob Nero Vision Exp

Hello Again! I am proud to report that as of this moment my problems have been completely solved. Thank you to everyone who made suggestions. It took me a little time to actually put those suggestions to the proper uses, but now Nero seems to be working flawlessly.

For anyone who is having trouble like I did, here is a step by step on what I did:

First and foremost, write down your serial number (especially if you paid for the software upgrade). You can find your current serial by opening Nero ProductSetup and clicking on the Key icon.

Next I downloaded and ran the Nero General CleanTool from the following address:
http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/General_CleanTool.html.
Run this application INSTEAD of using Nero ProductSetup or Control Panel => Add or Remove Programs. Before I figured this out, I could have un-installed a million times and still had an "unable to insert" error. The General CleanTool is the only way to be sure that your old buggy copy of Nero is eradicated.

I also un-installed/re-installed several times using the install disc that came with my Pioneer DVD-RW Drive (Nero 7 Essentials Bundle). Each and every time I was unable to update once installed. So, I decided to junk my Essentials disc, and instead downloaded the latest Nero 7 trial from the following address:
http://www.nero.com/nero7/eng/nero7-demo.php.

I then installed the trial version and entered my ugrade serial in ProductSetup. Since this trial was already updated to the latest version (7.9.6.0) there was no need to run an update.

Lastly, to solve my sync problem, I tried to disable the Nero codecs in different combinations by simply renaming them. Some people here suggested renaming the NeAudio.ax, NeAudio2.ax, and NeVideo.ax files found in the following location:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter.
Renaming either NeAudio.ax file did not work at all for me. As "idonno" said, it seems that NeVideo.ax is the only file that must be removed from the equation. I did this by simply adding a .bak extension, so the file name is now NeVideo.ax.bak.

Another handy tip was to install the Gspot codec information appliance:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/index.htm.
This utility allowed me to double check that I had all the right codecs installed for the files that were causing me problems.

Since following this procedure, I have been able to burn several DVD's out of files that were previously "unable to insert", or lagged so badly they were unwatchable. Once again, thanks for everyone's help. I hope this step by step will also help others in the future.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\DSFilter\NeAudio2.ax (or NeAudio.ax) to OLDNeAudio2.ax (or OLDNeAudio.ax) and rename NeVideo.ax to OLDNeVideo.ax.

There was another method described above, but it didn't work for me (something about expiration dates of trial versions of codecs) -- just changing the filenames did the trick.
I as wondering, if this does'nt work, can you go back and rename those two the folders to their previous names and every thing would work as before they were renamed.
I have NeroVision 3.1.0.16, XP SP2 1 Gig Ram, 80 Gig Harddrive.

Worked for me.
What problems can this download cause ? How do you know which codec to remove ?
When capturing from VHS-C tape with Nero Vision 3, there is a Triple echo eg; Hi-hi-hi. There is no echo during editing or when on the DVD, just the sound and lip movements are way off. It looks like the sound comes first then the lip movement.
