My drive goes through spells where it won't recognize any media. I don't do anything different, one minute it works fine next minute it won't detect media in drive. Eg: I do a kprobe scan works fine. Close program. Open nero to do a speed test, no media detected in drive. Windows and other programs recognizes the drive it just won't recognize media. It might start working again later, at least it did the last couple times it did this. Any insight or suggestions? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

I have a similar problem, but only when I burn a dvd+r disc with bitsetting to DVD-ROM. My drive is a 451s@832s, VS0B. If I do not apply bitsetting, everything is fine, all discs are recognised ok. Otherwise, the drive can't recognise the disc it just burned (but Kprobe does! And also my other drive (Plextor) does!)
I can't explain it. I tried going back to 451s, but nothing changed. So I just don't use bitsetting, as fortunately I do notreally need it.

My drive won't recognize any media period. My cdrw still works fine. I'm encodeing some mpeg1 files now but will try a reboot later. If that does'nt work I don't know what. I burned a dvd this morning. I've noticed the light spuratically turning from red to orange during some burns, but they seemed to play ok.
