| Witch firmware should i use Hi im new here and i just brought the lite on 1213s dvd writer but im not sure which firmware i should be using. Do u get better results with the sony 710a one or the official ones released from liteon? Also what the advantages of going the sony 710a firmware. thanks  |

| Re: Witch firmware should i use I have ordered a 1213 from Newegg, and am awaiting delivery at the moment, so I am in the same boat. My primary use for this drive will be running Kprobe scans, as I already own a Nec 3500 and a Pioneer 108. I have been reading everything pertaining to the 1213 here on cdfreaks. There are at present two active threads, one for the Sony 710 firmware (as modded for the 1213), and another for the Memorex version of the 1633 modded for the 1213. At present it looks to me like the Sony 710 firmware is the better bet. It supports bitsetting, and enables Ultra DMA 66 mode. There are not a lot of results yet for actual burning with these two firmwares, hopefully more will be posted. |
