LiteOn / PLDS/ Sony Burner Discuss, Win 98 file size limitations at CD and DVD Burners forum; Hi Guys and gals. I'm just about to purchase a 415s. I'm running 98SE and I have only just discovered that Fat32 has a 4gb fmaximum file size. This obviously means that I cannot copy a movie to an image file and then burn it (doesn't it?).

Win 98 file size limitations

Hi Guys and gals.

I'm just about to purchase a 415s. I'm running 98SE and I have only just discovered that Fat32 has a 4gb fmaximum file size. This obviously means that I cannot copy a movie to an image file and then burn it (doesn't it?).

If I use Clone DVD, and I use a DVD drive as the source (which I will have to buy), does it copy "on the fly", or does it copy to an image first? Is XP the only option?

Apologies if this has been covered before - I don't recall having seen it.

Thanks for any advice!

Clone DVD works just fine with Windows 98SE, copying from the reader to the writer it reads then writes the files to the hard drive, then burns the image, then deletes them. It doesn't make an iso.

I dunno what Clone DVD would do if you tried to make an ISO, but it's not necessary to make one.

DVDDecrypter WILL make an ISO - if larger than the size limit it splits the file into two parts and creates another file that has all the necessary info to put them back together - you just select it instead of the iso files when you want to burn the iso back and it'll handle everything for you. Sorry, it's been a while so I don't recall what that extra file is called, but it will be evident when you run the program in ISO mode.

Relax -> your new toy will work just fine with Winows 98!!!
