Welcome,
Our best information is that there will be no additional firmware development on the 401 drive. Sorry, hope this is wrong, but it looks like the 401 has been abandoned.

If this is true and i hope it's not,....... maybe 1 off the great firmware "rewriters" in here would be willing to look into this problem and create a firmware so the bitsetting tool can be used anyway.

If that's true I've lost allot of respect for LiteOn...

So, no more Christmeas presents for us.. ever !
I'm not at all happy to hear this, even though I already feared it might happen.
Considering it's the same hardware, you'd really think it should be easy for them to take any future 411s firmware, cut out the -R(W) part and keep those early adopters happy ??
Again i'd like to suggest that LiteOn provide a legal upgrade path to 411s as an alternative, at a (reasonable) cost if it must be.
Or maybe they can provide some of the guru's with the means to add MID codes, using the Community (that's us!) as testers..

Maybe Zebra could look into this problem as he managed to tweak the 411 and 451 too.

I know about the "no discussion about this topic" post.
I only even thinking off this when Lite-on decides not to bring out any new firmwares for the 401s anymore.

They wont leave any other option then. doing that, which is not supposed to be done.
I really need the option to use bitsetting in order to produce compatible dvd-roms for my sisters dvd player. I have a lot off home movies which i need to put on dvd's.

I dont need -r burnability, Only a tweaked firmware (possibly a 411 firmware) without the -r capability and with bitsetting ability.

I guess it's allowed now. If not, could you delete my account when you delete the link.

If you're leaving, at least let it be over the correct method for flashing. The Russian site is the wrong way to do it.

It's a while since I did it, but if I remeber correct I did it this way. If you have a better way, please share ;-)

No, please don't share any methods. Your attitude is not appreciated and don't make us waste our time deleting your account or whatever, just leave and don't come back. That effectively does the same thing.

Yes a ban is useful but for not for someone who is obviously not stupid.
