I have the LITE-ON LTR-52327S - and the other day, it looked like it was burning a CD fine, but then said errors at the finish. It did this several times
It will read some of the cds its recorded but not all.
It hasn't burned many CD's at all (no more than 40) - bought it in Augst 2003.
I use my liteon 52x cdrom for reading things.
I went out yesterday and bought the Liteon 12x dvd+-/+-RW drive.
Can anyone tell me if this was a waste of money or not.
I have 14 days to return it.
I don't know a thing about the DVDRWs - and it seems not much about this 52327S - its driving me crazy.

If you got the 1233S, it's a good unit. I have both the 1233S and the 1633S. You can flash the 1233S to a 1633S. I have had the 1633S for a little over a week and have not had a coaster yet. I think it is a good unit. And, I am using stock firmware.

i agree with jake8131 the 1233/1633 is looking like a good drive. i want a new drive soon and was looking at getting a NEC 3500 but the new liteon`s new firmware seems to have sorted out the early probs.

feed it decent +R`s with bittsetting and enjoy :-)

Please forgive me - but I don't kow a thing about 'flashing' the drive
Plus I really didn't want to open the box in case I got negative feed back, and then I could return it.
All I have is what is on the box, it says it's a LiteOn 12x dvd+-R/+_RW Drive Dual format DVD writer = DVD+R 12x DVD-R 8x DVD+RW 4x DVD-RW 4X
Not sure if this makes sense or not.
Even circuit city's site doesn't mention a model number.

I'm not sure what you mean by decent +R's if I burn any DVDs it will have to be the - as this is what my home theater uses.

Is there anything that can be done with the LITE-ON LTR-52327S - I'm so cross over that one, it did a fabulous job until the other day.

If you buy the 1213S, you can get rid of the 52337S. The 1213S is 48x24x48 in CD- mode.

hi cst even a total nebee can learn to make even the worst drive peform well and this is probley the best place to learn it, i was a total nebee like yourself when i joined you have to spend a lot of time using the search function read a pleanty of posts it can be very frustrating but you`ll get there.

if like you say your liteon 12X is still boxed and you can return it in 14 days then keep it boxed for a few days while you do some reading and then if your still unshaw then play safe and swap it for a 832s.

I called circuit city and they don't know which is the 832s - can this be found out from the information on the box?
Can you tell you tell what model I have by my info?

Circuit City doesn't have the model you recommend
But it looks like this new one could be this one, its the only 12x etc listed on that site.

I might never, but yet might burn a dvd - and thought it might be handy while I was going to have to replace the liteone 52x cdrw.

for a nebee yes the 832s would be better because more people have tested media & firmware`s, the 1213 & 1633 are faily new and maybe a bit much for a nebee.

dble AHHH i suffer from cluster headaces and am coming to the end (hopefully) of my end of summer bout.

I phoned liteon yesterday about the LTR-52327S
Philip sent me the link to the file to flash the drive.
It didn't help this unit....BUT....something odd happened (or maybe this is normal) I tried in windows explorer to send a file to the unit. It burned it fine and was able to read it in both this unit and the liteon cdrw.
But this morning nothing is showing up on that CD
So for me the mystery deepens, but I'm sure it makes sense to you
Also Philip sent me a list of the disks for the 1213s the only ones I could find here were the Sonys (for the -dvd disks) it sounds to me like this dvd burning 'lark' could end up being a pain in the neck
I really doubt I will be burning many (or any dvds) I have over 300 cds on hand now (all were free after the rebates)
So is this 1213s okay for just reading dvds (for now) and burning cd's.

Sorry about that. After flashing the LTR-52327S - it still wouldn't burn or read a cd. Then I thought I'd try it in windows explorer, I sent some files to the cdrw and those it burned fine, I could see the red light on the unit - burning. Then it read those files fine in both the cdrw and the cdr - but this morning - nothing could be read.
I hope this makes sense now
