Howdy,


Recently I've been having trouble with my
DW-G120A burner. I'm using firmware MYS6.

On occasion I get a 'communication error' from Nero 6.6.0.14 &
DVD Decrypter when writing to TY DVD-R at 4x.

It does not happen during every burn.
I'd say the occurrence is at about 40%.

This issue started 2 weeks ago.

I do not think the media is faulty, as I never have had this type of
problem with TY media in the past. When doing 4x simulations using
the same TY DVD-R, on average I get 2 successful burns and 1
failed burn.

My PC is an old Sony Vaio RX470DS with a 1.5GHZ P4, 256MB RAM,
120GB HD, and XP Pro SP2. I plan to replace this POS very soon but
in the mean time I would like to continue burning DVD-Rs.

My most recent failure was this morning, which was surprising
because I defragmented my HD last night.

Any help would be greatly, appreciated!
I am tired of wasting TY discs on failed burns.

Hi,

there is a Quantum Fireball HDD running in PIO mode. This should be fixed. Also, communication errors may often be related to bad cables.

Thanks for the reply. I do not use the Quantum Fireball when writing to discs. It is an old hard drive that houses a few older OSs. All data is written from the Western Digital 120GB Drive.

This old drive might cause these communication errors, even if you don't use it.
