Sony DW-D56A Slow Ripping Speed

Hi,

I've tried searching around the forums concerning this issue but haven't found an answer. When I decrypt a DVD using DVD decrypter my read speed caps out at 1x - I have no idea why and it's really driving me insane. DMA is enabled and I have no idea what else to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

@ funkdr_1999
Welcome. You can try a burst rate test with Nero CD-DVDSpeed or Kprobe 2.4.2. In Kprobe, go 'info>drive' and wait a few seconds, then scroll down to the bottom and it will report the burst rate. If your DMA is properly enabled, the 'current transfer mode' in 'device manager' should be 'Ultra DMA Mode 2' (not 'dma multi-word 2') and then your burst rate should be around 22mb/s.

There is also The big LITE-ON SOSW-852S thread , since your D56A is a rebadged Liteon 852

Thanks for the quick reply. The people of this forum are very helpful and you, my friend, are no exception. I will later test this today and hopefully be able to rip at a speed to my liking.
