SONY DVDRW DW-U18A - Always get Illegal Disc operation

Hi there,
whenever I try to burn any data into a DVD I get the "Illegal disc" error. I'm new with this problem because just days ago my burner worked without any trouble. I have a SONY DVDRW DW-U18A.

I have the UFS1 firmware version, already changed it to UYS1 and UYS4 with LtnFW software, and as soon as I update it, the tray doesn't open anymore, so I changed it back to UFS1 and still get the Illegal disc error all the time.

What can I do? Is there another firmware out there that works with my DVD burner?

Please help me, I use my burner almost everyday and now my PC seems to be useless without it.

Thank you in advance.

you used nero to burn it? if so open C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log its the burning log copy & paste the latest but dont include nero's serial also run nero infotool click the floppy icon and click save open the saved file and copy & paste,do you have any packet writing software?

The Nero InfoTool crashes when I try to save the file, so I took a snapshot of it, hope it is useful.

I'm sorry but I didn't understand your last question: "do you have any packet writing software?" What does it mean?

nero infotool probably crashed cuz its old , get the latets version of nero

Re: SONY DVDRW DW-U18A - Always get Illegal Disc operation

Thank you, I'll try with a different brand of DVDs, I just got a spindle of these at Office Depot.

I'm using Nero 6.3, the weird thing is that I alreayd burned some discs of that brand without any troubles, but now no one of the remaining discs seem to work, so that's why I started thinking about the malfunction of my burner.

I'll let you know as soon as I get better discs.

Thanks man.
