Sony CRX320E flashed into Lite-On SOHC-5232K, max rip speed?

Greetings,

I have a Sony CRX320E combo drive that I flashed into a Lite-On SOHC-5232K. I am using firmware NK0A. I have also turned the drive into RPC-1 with LtnRPC. I was wondering if the drive is locked at 2X ripping (for pressed DVDs). I have seen the firmware from 'codeguys' that will increase the Read Speed on DVD+/-Rs, but I am asking about the factory 2X lock on pressed DVDs (like video movies).

Any help would be appreciated... -Thanks

No, the drive is not locked at 2x, but it is limited to certain speeds for some types of media in order to provide better reliability during playback.

I have the same drive and the rip speed is 16x for single sided single layer pressed disks. All DVD-+R/RW are read at 8x. This goes for both firmwares (Sony and LiteOn).

Can you tell me what sony firmware you were using before flashing to LiteOn? Did you saved it before flashing? I would like to see it if you have it.

I was using version NYK1, but I didn't save my firmware. There is a new version NYK4 out now. I just checked, you can download them BOTH from www.firmware-flash.com .
