How the writing quality and the overall quality of the drive? Would you recommend this drive or recommend the Plextor 48/24/48 cdrw ($30 diff)?

It runs very quietly, very smooth. Easy to set up. Only complaint is that they didn't include a 24X CD-RW. They will send one if I register on line and I did but I don't know how long it will take to get the CD-RW. Problem is you can't get 24X anywhere yet. But Yamaha includes one 24X in the box if your buy their new F1 burner.

This burner is smoother and quieter than any other I've used and that includes Plextor, Sony, TEAC, and Yamaha.

thanks for the reply. one more thing, how reliable are the cds after you've burned them at max speed. any problems reading the burned disk in other optical drives?
