| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) Hi Firstly, I want to thank Codeguys and other people for the time that they have passed in order to develop "omnipather" or other Liteon tool. Secondly, I have some questions about omnipather. I use for my laptop PST3 firmware (Liteon) on my Sony D56A. With Stock firmware my verbatim 8X (mcc03) are burnt at 4X. Then, I use omnipather in order to permit the 6X write speed. Now DVDInfoPro and Néro show me that 8x write speed is available. My questions are why this last speed is available even though I didnt select it? With stock firmware, this speed is never available. Does the 8X strategy is present? Thank again. Reno |

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) Hi ala42 One think that is trange is when I choose 6X for mcc03 the 8x writing speed is available and when I choose 6x for mcc 01RG20, only 4x writing speed is available . I test also with your tool and I have the same result. (My third post for two years ) |

Let me correct my statment in my last post. I checked that the speed id looks like I would have set it. I had a look at the PST3 firmware again, there are no media codes having 2x or 4x enabled when 6x is enabled. So let's try to disable 2x and 4x when you select 6x burning. It would also be fine if you could test how the drive would behave with a real 6x disk. Assuming you do not have such a disk, you could patch the firmware using my tool. First replace the MCC 01RG20 code by something else, then replace MCC 02RG20 which allows 6x burning by MCC 01RG20. This would be a strategy swap.

I have some traxdata 4x (Ritek R02) too. In PST3, R02 is known like a 4x media. I will test with only 6x writing speed in the firmware in order to see if his behaviour is like mcc03 or like 01RG20.

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) Yesterday, I made some other tests with omnipatcher and the PST3 firmware for Liteon 852S. Each time, I chose only the 6X speed whereas the original speed in the firmware is only 4X. For all of them, the 8X is always available after the installation of the patched PST3. Ritek R02 : 8X RICOHJPNR01 : 8X MCC003 : 8X MCC002 : 8X As soon as I receive new MCC01RG20 I re-test with it and I will apply the strategy swap. MCC01RG20 : 4X |

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) Hi all, Having real big problems with the media below. I am new to this site and getting all the right data is a little hard, but worth it. I've been searching away and have flashed my Sony DW-U18A with LiteOn USON and added the media codes within Omnipatcher. Still get poor burn so can someone come up with a write strategie I can use with Omnipatcher to improve my results. Really need to get this disc working as I have 50 of them. Any help would be great. thanks in advance. Great site by the way. | Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) Firstly you link doesn't work. Use the manage attachments button to attach scans to your post. ![]() I'm a little confused. CMC MAG AE1 is already in US0N, so why did you say you added it with OmniPatcher. Also OmniPatcher doesn't have the capability to add media codes. ![]() Anyway. Since you have a Sony drive, try using VY06 and burn them at 8x not 4x (they actually burn better ). It's not great media but VY06 doesn't do a bad job of burning it. You can get flashfixed VY06 from my site. Don't forget to enable crossflashing with OmniPatcher (that one it does do ).

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) C0deKing Giving VY06 a try. Where i said "media codes" i should have said "apply recommended DVD media tweaks" & yes the "CMC MAG.AE1" file is not changed by this action. Sorry for the Confusion. Had trouble with attaching graph so used link. Will try and post USon & VY06 together. Thanks for the info and fast responce. |

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) Try resetting your media learn with the EEPROM Utility and then use VY06 again. Edit: Also please scan at 4x speed. This is the cdfreaks standard, for comparison.

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) 2 Codeguys First of all - great, GREAT thanks for this your program! This was what I've hungered for! Already read all the related threads there - and now my 1633S is flashed with the firmware edited by yhe OmniPatcher. ![]() I applied recomended tweaks and also "asked" the burner to write DVDs at 2.4x ![]() Yet for now, I got two questions... First - what was the reason to change strat. for MCC 002 to MCC 003? Nay, I trust you, it's just I'm curious 'bout that! ![]() Second - is there a need to flash my 1633S with 1653S firmware - it's not like I'm gonna burn any DL's in the nearest future and neither I gonna use DVD- media... Are there any profits in such crossflashing? Thank you in advance...

The MCC002 to MCC003 change was made because people think that 4x for MCC002 is too slow and they want to burn it at 8x. It seems from people's experiences (I have not tried this out personally) that by switching to the MCC003 strategy, you can get MCC002 to overspeed to 8x with good results (whereas getting MCC002 to go to 8x with only a speedhack and no strat switch does not seem to produce good results).

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) @ajaxas Welcome ![]() The MCC002 is switched to the MCC003 because the MCC002 media does not have an 8x strategy, so it has to use the MCC003's strategy to be able to be burned at 8x. You are better off using the 1633S firmware BS0K, as the the 1653S firmware is not mature yet. With CS02, only one type of DL media can be written at 4x and 5 -R at 12x, so there's not a lot to be gained at this stage. ![]()

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) @Codeguys So that's what it is... Well, bought some Verbatim MCC 002 media (strange, DVD+R 8x are not available, though DVD-R 8x are here, on my table...) and gonna test them on all the speeds possible - from 2.4x to 8x... Though I dunno why are some people eager for burning their DVDs on 8x - I'm happy enough with 14 minutes per disc. Anyhow, shall first test them... 10x for help... No, 10000x! ![]() @C0deKing Quote:

| Re: OmniPatcher for LiteOn DVD-Writers (v1.3.16) Btw, I've found that my drive reads DVD+/-Rs at 8x maximum. I mean, it starts from 3.4x or so and can make it 8x in the end oа the disc... Here is graph: [MCC 02RG20] On the other hand, people seem to read them at max. 16x link Feels kinda funny... OmniPatcher has an option (everybody here knows ) "Increase DVD+-R/R9/RW speed to 12x".Will this solve the problem (and shall I call it "a problem"?) And if yes - why only 12x?
