| Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: A first test - Staples brand CMC E01 8x in Benq 1640 BSLB SB off WOPC on - P.S. - I resized to 75% and it seems to be a perfect size to scale down to for the forum, at least at my monitor's resolution. Lower resolution and all bets are off . |

| Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: 4x jitter scan of the same Prodisc-made Verbatim 16x, burnt with the Lite-On 165P6S. P.S.: another option to resizing the screenshot is to resize the window so all the blank beige areas are removed. |

| Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: You can change the interval value to shorten the testing time. I usually change it to 0x8000. The interval value is not used for PI/PIF scan at this version, next version will be. USB/Multi drives supporting has problems and Tom is working out. I think there would be soon a new version for you. Thank you for all the great testing and feedback. Thanks. ![]() |

| Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: alexanderino, - thanks for your feedback! - yes, I know what jitter is, but not quite sure how to interpret the graphs - I put "beta" in as part of the application version, not that I was trying to run a "beta" scan..... Many thanks to Wind, Tom, Karr, CodeKing and the rest of ya'll, for bringing LiteOne back into the limelight! |

| Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: you're right, my brain is borked at the moment ![]() As for jitter, a nice explanation can be found here: Jitter expresses how much the structures recorded to a disc deviate from the length they are supposed to have. Jitter should be as low as possible... In other words, it examines how evenly sized the pits and lands are. The more the deviation, the higher the jitter percentage Preliminary scans show that Lite-On reports higher jitter than BenQ. |

| Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: Hi Wind, with my 1635S and the latest test firmware works only PI/PIF test. It's normal? Thanks a lot for your (and Tom) work. ![]()

| Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: I compared jitter tests at each speed and the results at 6x and 8x seem alot more erratic vs. the 4, 2, and 1x tests, the three slower speeds follow a much closer trend (probably related to the fact that 1-4x is CLV and 6x and 8x are CLV). IMO, for this reason I would tend to stick with 4x for jitter testing. This is with a 160P6S, whether this trend also relates to the 5S series of drives, I don't know. Benq 1640 scan for reference, followed by 1x, 4x, 6x, and 8x in the Liteon 160P6S. Disc is a Memorex Ritek R03, burned at 8x in Liteon 160P6S PV8Q, SB HT OHT all on. |

| Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: Another observation, looks like the PI/PIF testing may still have some bugs to work out. This is a PI/PIF test of the disc in my previous post, you can see the two random error spikes in the scan. I was multitasking, maybe it was a one-time random reporting of errors, but I don't think they are being accurately reported. I'll run a test with CD-DVD Speed to see what it reports in the Liteon (the Benq scan is in the previous post). edit: Just to confirm, I just ran a test in CD-DVD Speed and the error spikes aren't present. BTW, the block of errors reported up to 4 PIF in the CD-DVD Speed test below are from a large speck of dust, disregard that (the block of errors can also be seen if looking closely at the DVDScan test). | Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here: scoobiedoobie and jacen9, don't think this app supports "3" series drives... Thanks to all that made this tool and members involved with testing. It's always better to have more (then one) tool for jitter testing. |
