I have found a DVDScan Beta Test Issue using Lite-On LH-20A1P 487C with KL0A firmware as scanning drive.
I have just realized that the Beta Test is "sometimes" out of order now with the KL0A firmware, at least for discs burned on my LG H10/12 drive and discs burned with the LH-20A1P KL05. Oddly, it still seems to work for discs burned with KL0A.
I have retested discs scanning with LH-20A1P KL0A and compared to tests I ran a month ago with KL05 firmware. The results are very different. An example is given below. This disc was burned with the LH-20A1P KL05 @8X speed,
First pic: Beta test done with KL05.
Second pic: Same disc, Beta test done with KL0A.

I have previously posted DVDScan Beta Test graphs using KL0A in both the Lite-On(20A1P thread) and LG(H10N & H12N threads) forums. I was unaware of the issue when I posted the graphs. The problem graphs show extreme variation in Beta levels(such as below.) At those times, I re-tested the bizarre looking graphs--but results didn't change, so I posted them. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Could a Moderator please edit any of my previous posts containing extreme looking beta graphs and let everyone know that the DVDScan Beta Test is most likely out of order with firmware KL0A and results should probably be disregarded.

Sorry. Sorry. Sorry.

Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here:

Hi,

Please help, DVDscan does not work any more. I can not remember
which changes in the system i have made since the last proper run and
what program actually collide with the DVDscan.

Simptoms now are the following: The program starts a test, but it goes
straight on to the end without any results. Jitter and TE/FE tests are starting,
but giving just a constant values as i the following pictures bellow. Any ideas why it could happen?

Re: New Toy: DVDScan and Feedback Here:

Hi, everyone

I am new in this forum. I am very interested in the DVD "internals" and for that reason googling for "retrieving DVD s.m.a.r.t. info " I ended here and got knowledge of DVDSCAN. I have downloaded it but I can't run it because I do not kave a liteon DVD, instead a LG-4163B AND A GCC-4320B inoperative (virus infected?) I intend to buy a new one, most likely a PATA 20X liteon, but I would like it be compatible with DVDSCAN. Do you know if any of the: DH-20A4H, DH-20A4P, DH-20A3H, LH-20A1H or LH-20A1P are compatible?
Second question, I use to read the specifications before buying a PC peripherial, but dvd info pro, contains a lot of unknow beforehand DVD parameters, because thexe parameters are not published by the makers. Could anyone of you tell me where can get more info about the comercial products to make a better buy decision?
Thanks
