Full success without one bothering thing, when i insert a cd, the tray opens and closes three times. But it's been working out fine, i've burned a few CD-Rs at 40x.

Liteon LTR-32123S overclocked to LTR-40125S semi-failed

Greetz
I've hex edited new firmware of 40x liteon, and updated my 32x to 40x. Full success without one bothering thing, when i insert a cd, the tray opens and closes three times. But it's been working out fine, i've burned a few CD-Rs at 40x. But this one thing with tray was too annoying to stand so i 've decided to downgrade it to normal 32/12/40. Of course i had dumped 32x flash using MTKflash, so then i ran into real dos, and MTKflashed again using old firmware. After reset the burner was dead, led is still on, and tray doesn't open at all, any suggestions ? Maybe sbdy can send me PFlash version of 32x firmware (XS0F) and MTKFlash version of XS0R. plz hlp

LTR-32123S to LTR-40125S seems to be a very bad idea since they are different in hardware, and different motor to get the CD to rotate fast enough.

And pflash is for drives with sanyo chipset and not for drives with mediatek chipset.

But it worked ;)

is there any possibility to fix this drive ?
Maybe i'd damaged or overwrited my previously backed up firmware files, and i've to try to reflash using .bin firmware.
When i'm flashing using MTK, with options : MTKFlash 3 W /b /m cdr.bin everything seems to be ok (all 8 chunks(?) and CRCs are ok) , but after restart the situation doesn't change, drive is dead. Any solution?

Sorry, seems like your drive is dead. As long as the flash process finishes in success and it still don't work you're out of luck.

Strange thing, when I MTK 3 W /b /m i got (873f) as the checksum(?) and when I MTK 3 R /b /m i got (43e4)
Is this drive *unflashable* ;} ?
What is the purpose of factory jumpers in liteon drives, i was looking for some description on the net with 0 result, any ideas or links ? maybe it could be useful in my case. btw, thx OC for sending me firmware, and Ur hlp.

That link should work?

Byside that I'm not sure if the LTR-32123S have the needed pins to get this trick to work......

Don't know, it's probably German since the pic is grabbed from a German page.

Maybe some German people will drop in and translate it?
