Re: LITEON LH-20A1H DVDRW (20x DVD+R !!)

I only have 1 IDE channel. Will this drive be OK as a slave for the following purposes:

** Quality Scanning?
** Burning the $@#! out of my MCC 004?

Or should I just dump my other drives and only use the LiteOn?

If I want to flash my firmware to LL06 do you just run the LL06.exe file from LiteOn?

Nevermind. I found the instructions on LiteOn's site.

Always the same problem with those new LiteOns. I doubt there is a solution.

Re: LITEON LH-20A1H DVDRW (20x DVD+R !!)

Looking to buy a Liteon for a 2nd burner, but also as it seems to be THE SCANNER to have also.

Do I go for a LH-20A1P or a LH-20A1H ?

the "H" is the lightscribe version I understand.

Is there any other reason to get one over the other one?
Seems that most people appear to have the lightscribe version here.

@piggiepaul
they are the same one with LS, Some prefer the non LS.
I think a lot of people have them as the cost is very close.

Thanks for confirming they are exactly the same apart from the Lightscribe.

As you say, there is very little difference in cost.

I've never had a lightscribe drive, mainly for 2 reasons.
More expensive media and the stupidly long time it takes to do the lightscribe itself. I'm never going to wait 20 mins or half a hour for a greyscale picture.

I'd rather just get printable disks and stick em in my inkjet.

If lightscribe took 5 mins then I may be interested.

Posting this for reference - here are the supported media codes and supported speeds w/ stock firmware LL06. Also note C0deKing's excellent modified firmware with enhanced overspeed here, which allows any 2x-16x disc to be burned at speeds up to 16x, and 16x discs to be burned at 18x or 20x.

Re: LITEON LH-20A1H DVDRW (20x DVD+R !!)

Has anyone tried OPTODISC R16 with the FB EOS firmware? Wondered if it was just me that had it at 6x max. write speed; mostly everything else is 16x max for me (and 20x max for most other 16x discs) with the overspeed enabled in the Smartburn 3.1.1.6t software....

Re: LITEON LH-20A1H DVDRW (20x DVD+R !!)

Question:

I own a new ( and 2º Drive ) Lite 20A1H drive...

Yesterday, after install as Master on the Secondary Channel, i did try to Burn some MCC004 at 20X...

So i went to SmarBurn, and activated the Overspeed function...

But, whatever i try, i can pass 18X

Is this the limit of the FW, for this media?

Wasn`t suppose, i decide what speed should i record?

I use LL06 original FW, and the drive was manufactured in December...

Re: LITEON LH-20A1H DVDRW (20x DVD+R !!)

The overspeed feature only allows a one speed increase i.e. 8x to 12x, 16x to 18x

MCC004 will burn at a max of 16x, so when overspeed is enabled it is increased to 18x.

The only exception to this rule is media that has a max burn of 18x is not increased to 20x.

Also you can use the extended overspeed patched firmware, which allows all 16x media to be burned at 20x but some drives do not relink well at 20x.

That's the way it is with stock firmware, even when you enable OS.
Try out C0deKing's firmware posted here.

Edit. I see you already got an answer from C0deKing while I had a beer.

Ah!

The Cavalry did arrive

pinto2 & codeking, thank you very much!

I almost forget the experience with my old Lite 832S and some FW modded

My last adventure:

I did upgrade to LL07.

Another Verbatim TY +R. Went to SmartBurn and did activated SB HB.

Choose 20X on the Nero....start...and.........

Dam drive spin 3 times and decide to Burn at 5.8X

Just don't shoot at cavalry.

BTW, let's hope we'll see LL07 FB EOS firmware soon.

Re: LITEON LH-20A1H DVDRW (20x DVD+R !!)

are there any noise issues and differences related to production date with LH-20A1Hs and/or LH-20A1Ps?? I've read that there were some with 18A1x drives. I think have just find Lite-Ons here, generally they are something like unreachable

I've read that drives produced before December 2006 are noisy . My 20A1P is produced in Dec 2006 and it is quiet
