Not bad for 1x media. If you turn off SB, you should be able to reach 16x.

That shuts me up!

What a pity these early medias were so well-made as to stand a 16X overspeeding, or even a 12x overspeeding! At least I was right about the early medias seemingly being better-made than even some of the really good 8x ones.

Iwas given a 10 pack of PLAY'O 2.4X DL ricoh jnp do. o1h,what crap !! , not one good burn on 5, then i down loaded the16x os,frist burn with oht-os on at 6x bt18:37, not good Q, the DTA look good. a big inprovement,can't wate to try some good DL'S noob

I tried burning 5 of those discs with both my BenQ
drives. All discs had burn failures.
I guess I'll try my new LiteOn on them.

I just tried burning one @8x with my LiteOn and
it too failed.
Set burn speed to 4x and it worked, and the
disc is actually playable.

I tried a Maxell-branded YUDEN000 T01 (4x) at 16x, as I mentioned early in the thread. The result wasn't readable...I may risk another at a lower speed, but I don't have too many left

I just purchased a SHM-165H6S Drive and flashed it with the firmware provided. Everything seems to update ok (firmware HS0E). But Nero CD-DVD Speed, nor any other program allows me to burn at anything faster than rated speed of media (8x). Currently Using: YUDEN000 T02. Only thing I can figure is that the drive is an USB inclosure, but I would think that at least the drive would allow you to choose 16X, am I right? Any ideas would be great as I purchased this drive just for the 16X overburn..

I tried the drive on an IDE Port inside my computer, Still cannot Burn at any faster than 8X. I tried to Reflash, once again everything goes well, reboot computer. Still no change to max burn speed settings. Thanks for your help in advance.
