LiteON 52/32/52 images (LTR-52327S)

This is the retail pack of the new LTR-52327S. It has a firmware version of QS03. The bundles include Nero Express OEM, 1 multispeed LiteON CD-R, a Verbatim 16-24X CDRW, an audio cable and 4 screws.

800MB burn took around 2:30 in various burning programs (Alcohol 120%, CloneCD, Nero). CDRW writing uses the P-CAV, similar to the TDK 482448 Second Edition, but faster.

Front panel is again boring ... and they still don't bother to properly print their logo on it ...

Now it's time for Dave ( dhc014) for requesting a copy of the FW.

No 32x CDRW media bundled with the drive? Hmmm

Well at least the drive has a bulge on the front, no more pure flat.

It's because of the cash flow they're getting, I guess.

See, some become more & more flat, LiteOn keeps going its own way.

Heh, yes please!

They did change the faceplate a little, it now has the slight depressions on the sides whereas the old one is just completely flat.

Nothing new!

Exactly the same as my LTN526 cd-rom.

The faceplate is new to the CD-RW drives, but has been present in the JLMS DVD-ROM drives as well as CD-ROM and combo drives for a while...

That it was just an irritating typo, that hasn't been changed.

Sorry, didin't mean to be offensive about it, just that I was lured in here when i saw the 36
Anyway, it's been changed now, so its all good.
The drive does look better with the curved face plate in place of the flat one.

Sure! Just gimme a while as I've just upgraded the system, now everything is in a mess. I'll post the firmware for the LTR-52327S (QS03) in 24 hrs.

Firmware extracted ... but ...

I've used mtkflash 1.61 to extract the firmware (QS03) from the LTR-52327S. However, the image size(s) do not seem to be correct.

1. I used the /m (merge) parameter, and I get a binary image of around 1077KB.

2. Without the /m switch, I get a 135KB image.

The writer is installed in primary master.

[1077KB image file]
C:\>mtkflash 1 r /m QS03M.bin

[135KB image file]
C:\>mtkflash 1 r QS03.bin

Can anyone enlighten me?

>>>To dhc014
I'm using a nForce2 Ultra 400 based motherboard, with an AthlonXP 3200+.

I used a Windows Me boot disk (bootable CD) to get into DOS to do the extraction. The same boot CD had performed countless sucessful BIOS / firmware flash operations in the old system (KT266A + XP2100) ... could it be the new motherboard that's causing the deficiency?

tf52 hit it on the head. Those sizes are typical of hex files, not binary files. While converting between hex and bin is possible, it's always best just to do a binary backup since hex backups are missing the last part... Without the /m switch you were getting a hex backup of only the first bank (out of 8 banks). Thanks for trying!
