LiteOn 48/12/48 writing questions

Just got this drive, and installed it on a PCI IDE card as master. I am using TY 16X CDRs, but these can be burned up to 40X according to the LiteOn utility. I burned a disc at 16X with the buffer staying above 90%, which is good. But I have tried 40X and 24X and the burn takes longer as buffer underrun is activated. The source drive is a 7200 hard drive on primary master (mobo) and the buffer fluctuates and I have all other programs closed (except NAV). Is the buffer fluctuating due to the disks not being 24 or 40X, or is it a setup problem with the burner?

Very few Extra IDE controllers works well with CD-units.

I've had general bad experience with controllers based on highpoint or promise chips, use controllers based on theses chips for harddrives only.

I suggest you use the onboard IDE controller.

If you still want a controller that works ok with CD-Units get a controller based on the silicon Image IDE controller. To my experience they work ok......
