| Liteon 1693 has trouble with BenQ burns. I have a number of TYG02s I burned on a BenQ 1620 with B7V9 firmware. When I scan them on an 832S they are fine. Same when I scan on the BenQ. When I scan on the 1693 with KS0A, I get PIE errors about 10 times higher. Anyone have any idea what is going on? First time I saw the scan on my wonderful TY I almost . |

| Re: Liteon 1693 has trouble with BenQ burns. I posted the same kind of results with my 451S and 1693 a while back. I get good scans from the BenQ....but not so good from Liteon or NEC. This is ONLY with TYG02 burned in my BenQ. I no longer trust my BenQ scans of it's own burns. I have not seen this anomoly with any other media burned in my BenQ. My feeling is the BenQ is a little off with it's TY write and read strats....but that's just a guess. TYG02 burned in the NEC3500, 2500, 3450, LG4163 and 1693 scan fairly consistently in all drives. The LG4163 and 3500 have the best overall scan consistency amongst my scanning drives. I wonder if not being able to scan plays a part......hmmmmm, something to ponder. Makes you think that perhaps scanning deficiencies cause techs to make firmware adjustments that aren't necessarily for the best.

| Re: Liteon 1693 has trouble with BenQ burns. Thanks much. I knew someone else had this problem and it is good to hear it is only with TYG02 (same as what I had found). I guess I'll just avoid that media on the BenQ. I know my BenQ was trash when it came to TYG01 (the only one of my drives) so I guess they just don't like TY -R. Luckily every other drive does. |

My TY (-R) also burns well in all my other drives....I'm still happy with the BenQ, especially with +R media.
